It has bluetooth but I think I read somewhere that you will need an add-on accessory for it to funtion.

Have you demoed it yet?

I had thoughts of just buying today but I would like to demo it before dropping that much on it and also I might be able to get a big discount on mine but im not too sure.

omg. This is awesome. It's either the Avic-Z1, or the Eclipse AVN6600.

I agree with you here. For the accessories on the AVIC-Z1 I've already spend over
$800 ( backup camera, XM Nav traffic, 5.1EQ, EQ controller ) I'm still looking for
the bluetooth adapter unit. I've ordered my unit already hope it gets here soon

I think I'll get the Eclipse AVN6600 instead. Mainly for ease of installation, and that fact that I can get it for $1600 installed.

i'll be going for the Z1 with iPod adapter, XM w/traffic, bluetooth, and an aux input adapter. i figure i'd hook up the aux input to the oem aux input location inside the armrest plus the adapter only costs $40. do you daisy-chain these add-ons (if you have more than one) to the head unit using the ip-but in/outs. any idea if there's a limit to the number of devices that can be added?

Sounds like my sister, I bought my wife a Louis Vutton handbag for @ $2200
my co-worker immediately asked "what they the heck did you do?"

Anyways back to topic.
AVIC-Z1 is now are available on ebay from $1799 -> $1900 which isn't bad
just have to becareful. Most retailers are still selling it @ $2250(MSRP) just because
it's suppose to be a hot cake.

By the way have anyone seen the ND-BT1 bluetooth adapter accessory avaliable ?
I'm having a tough time looking for it.

$2,000?? It's not that nice.. My clarion 6.5" motorized screen, dvd/mp3 player, and tv tuner barely came to over $1,000..

navigation isn't worth that much.

Obviously you would say that but think about it this way. How much are OEM navis worth like BMW... Acura... ect. Most go for over 2k. But these navis dont come with the 10 GB harddrive that you can store music on with another 20gb to store the 11 million points of interest... or the DVD player that does indeed play on this unit itself.

Not to mention (but I will anyway ) it just came out. In a few months prices will drop to about $1600.

The only competition it has is the Eclipse and what the msrp on that?

So maybe to you the navigation is not worth it but thats why Pioneer was not targeting consumers like you. ;)

Dealers rip you off with navigation systems, that doesn't really change my mind about this being overpriced also..

And about the last sentence.. Yes, I'm glad pioneer wasn't targeting customer's who already had a TV/DVD/MP3/TV-Tuner, they probably wouldn't have much luck.. ????

The built in HD is cool and ahead of it's day, that's probably why they're raping people on the price.
