i had a kicker L7 in my tc...built a custom sealed box now with 2 mtx9500s...L7 wasn't as loud but it was 1 compared to 2 and i had 400watts pushin it and it did well...i would recommend both the kicker L7 or the mtx9500...both pound hard

Word. It'd be different if they were worth riding.

It sounds like you are looking for a nice little budget SQ sub. I'd recommend looking into a Fi SSD with copper coil or a SSA Icon. Could even look into a Sound Splinter RL-i or two.

personally (if your talking to me) I am a JL fanatic, in my opinion you don't pay for the name, you really just can't go wrong with JL audios. There are better subs out there than JLs but it sure is a great product. Alpine amps i LOVE but can't afford right now lol, i have a Cadence amp 400w which gets the job done.

personally i prefer 12" because 10 doesnt feel like a big upgrade from the stock 6.5"

basically you need to look at 3 things:

RMS wattage : whatever this is on your sub, make sure your amp is within the range or above
Max Wattage (peak) : this is important, don't get an amp over that amount of wattage, honestly i wouldnt get very close to this number either.

Frequency response: the simplest i can describe this is, the farther apart the two numbers are, the wider range of sound you get. (example: 20-200hz) 20hz is pretty low, whereas 200hz is very high pitched.

one more thing about wattage, keep in mind that 1 amp to 2 subs, it needs enough wattage to reach the RMS of both subs combined. Example of this would be if each sub had an RMS of 200-400w then you want an amp that has 200-800w to supply both subs well enough.

its in pre-production and going for $100/ea. right now. damn good price for a great quality company. they get an A+ in my book.
They get an F in my book. They have the worst customer service I have ever seen.
DO NOT buy from Elemental Designs. They will sell you a shotty sub then charge you $80 to fix it instead of admiting they sold you a shotty sub.

I'm still loyal to the brand. Like i said, both my previous Kenwood systems have most certainly met and surpassed my expectations for them. My first set up was ported and my current is sealed, ported worked better but I need trunk space, Although my current set up does hit harder. atm I have yet to have any problems from Kenwood. Just my personal experience.

I'd listen to trials tho, he helped me design my old ported box which worked out great(Actually sold it to a friends brother who has a tc and he loved it too) and gave great advice when I was building it. Guy knows what he's talkin about.

They sold me a sub about a year ago and it broke within 1 month. Their ED logo cover thing that goes over the sub began to come lose around the edges of the sub causing it to rattle like a ****.

When I paid to ship it back to them they said it wasn't their fault and the subs are quality tested and blah blah blah. It was either $80 to fix it, or $100 to just buy a new one. Scam artists.

Their customer service is horrible. It took them 2 WEEKS to ship my order and they kept losing parts and sending me the wrong stuff. They had to ship a total of 4 different boxes to me because they kept screwing things up.

Plus, when you call them they give you short quick answers just to get you off the phone.

I vowed after they ripped me off with the sub and the crappy shipping and customer service I would let everyone know me experience. They didn't care. They seem to think they have enough people that say good things about them they dont have to make things right or provider good customer service to those people they don't feel like.

Wow........I call and ask them some of the dumbest questions you have ever heard and they talk to me till I give up .......so I guess when I blow my ID10s that complain about Image Dynamics being crap.......

Speakers fail.........especially subs.If you match your subs and amps up properly and match you subs and boxes properly and tune it all they will last years and years.
