I may just build my own box, Home depot wood + some kind of seal i have not decided on yet, does caulk work?? and some screws, I did it before but sealed it super ghetto style with industrial adhesive because it seeped into the cracks nicely

 

for what it costs to build and carpet ur box ur better off buying a premade 1/4 inch mdf sealed box

 

eh i'm sure your right, haha my friend just told me to forget it and go get a walmart box lol. I'm sure that wouldn't be too bad but premade is the most durable i'm sure.

do me one huge favor.... cUSTOM BUILT BOX!!! pre-fab's are horrid, no matter the sub. you will be amazed at what a custom built box will sound like compared to a pre-fab

 

haha yea I used to want a custom box but after I priced it I was just like ahehehe, yeah... i'm goin pre-fab until my next setup at least.

 

whats your budget for a custom box and why aren't you building it yourself?

 

if you have a friend that builds em you can sometimes get them to do it for a case of beer or pizza; cuz that's all i basically did when i had mine done with a buddy cuz i didn't have the tools/garage to do it myself.

 

I havent ruled out self build yet, i'm still pondering about it really, its more of a budget issue than anything else, but i guess i could pick up some MDF board fairly cheap from home depot and I dont need to carpet it.

what? are you kidding you shouldn't have to seal anything, you use wood glue and clamps you don't even have to use screws or nails.

as for the wire get a set of bolts

 

mmm wood glue... i think i'm going to glue it all together and then screw it to tighten everything together.

 

x2 with wood screws.. every 2-3 inches apart

I had to go even closer together with my screws after my REs popped my ported box on top and bottom. Too much air movement I guess. But hey, I don't think you will have that problem with Pioneer.

Ya guys need some schooling on box fabrication skills.....
All the liquid nail in the WHOLE WIDE WORLD will not put a box together.

What you need is some good old wood glue, what I prefer as with others is titebond wood glue. Do you know why it is called wood glue?
Screws every 2-3 inches apart, how about putting together a box w/o screws?
