Default Accelerator issue?

First, I do realize that the recent Toyota recall does not include any Scion vehicles. Now, I was wondering if anyone else has experienced what happened to me tonight. I have a 2009 5-speed TC. I was at a light, turning left, and I shifted from 1st into 2nd with no problems; however, when I shifted from 2nd to 3rd and began accelerating it seemed that the RPMs shot up and the car began accelerating without me doing anything. I quickly shifted into neutral and the problem stopped. Then, I shifted back into 3rd and it started again. I shifted back out of 3rd into neutral and then shifted into 4th and the accelerating began again. I shifted back into neutral and the problems stopped after this.

Again, I realize that the recent recalls by Toyota do not include Scions but I just wanted to see if anyone else has had this problem as well.

Also sounds like you might have hit your 'resume' on the cruise control.

Don't worry about it. On our cars, we hit vtec in 3rd gear.

If the TB or Accelerator were stuck it woulda kept revving to redline with the clutch in or the tranny in neutral. Sounds more like a cruise control issue as the CC cuts out if you knock the car into neutral.

holy f*ck!! with all the recalls goin on you should call your toyota dealer. file a complaint.
i wouldn't be suprise if the scions get recalled in a few months. i haven't had any issues with my xb but I'm very concerned. Lexus has received complaints regarding sudden accelaration. Like lexus, scion is a sister company & share many toyota parts & components.

god i hate these stupid posts. why would you only have this issue in 3rd gear? if your throttle body or gas pedal was sticking, you would have this problem in all gears. the car has no idea what gear it is in unless it is an automatic.

this is all in your head, as you say the RPMs shot up while doing from 2nd to 3rd and the car accelerated without you doing anything? newsflash, if the car is not in gear, it can't accelerate unless it is rolling down a hill or falling off a cliff. as for the rpms shooting up, that would be throttle overrun, as you are still on the gas pedal while pressing the clutch in durring your 2nd to 3rd gear shift, so the engine is briefly revving freely and thus gains rpms very quickly.

if the throttle was sticking, it would rev like crazy while in neutral. that or the cruise control is on and trying to bring the car up to the preset speed.

What are you talking about? Scion are Toyota. It doesn't matter if you tc has a Lexus badge on it. Its still a Toyota.

I agree with draxcaliber. All this is post about unintended acceleration is stupid. The media blew this out of proportion and to be honest, Ford has the highest number of unintended acceleration filed before this ever got of hand. Even that professor from whatever school rig the Avalon to cause a controlled acceleration issues.

Reason as to why the government is going after Toyota. Simple, the US partly owns GM and Chrysler. There's your answer.
