Ok kids, Welcome to the let's get ripped off by a dealer. If you all have trouble reading a few word phrases and don't understand it maybe ask nicely and someone will help you out. So stop the cry baby bull and talk about the topic .
Car buying lesson #498:
Dealer wants to sell the least amount car for the most amount of money. Customer wants to buy the most amount of car for the least amount of money. Hence, conflict. Resolution: negotiate.
Scion: pure price (new). No conflict; therefore, no negotiation.
Current used car market conditions: weird. Scions in our region (N. Texas) are going for sticker+ at auction. Trade-in values are likewise unusually high. Depreciation? Yes. Does it matter? No. It's a free market out there, and a wild one.
That being said, is $19K+ for a used black 5 speed tC too much? Probably.

recently, my neighbor, a used car dealer (not specifically scion) saw my car and told me he had just lotted one with 11k and it was an "04". he knew nothing of these cars and told me all the "options" it had (which were virtually all just standard equipment except a six disc changer). he had it lotted for 19,900.00 and "wasn't willing to go much lower than that".
quite frankly i'm encouraged by the potential resale outlook for these cars.
The value of any product is what somebody is willing to pay for it. Dealers are free to ask whatever they like for their products and consumers are within their rights to say yes or no. If one says "yes", then the value has been validated and that isn't the dealer's fault.
That said, I don't like the absurd pricing structures either. I don't even bother to defend my used car department sometimes. They recently sold a 2005 with side air bags for more than I sell the 2006. It took them 5 weeks to sell the car and involved a lot of hard negotiation and they didn't make a lot of money on it because they had spent so much getting it at auction. So now, there is a person driving around with our tag frames who will feel ripped off if they ever bother to walk into the Scion showroom (as opposed to the used car department) and see the new car pricing. They also didn't get the easy buying process and still distrust dealers. To me, its not worth it.
If I were in charge (I'm not, nor do I want to be), we wouldn't buy Scions at auction. At the prices they are going for right now, it doesn't make sense to get them and sell them. We, like consumers, should stick to new until things get a bit more reasonable on the used car market. I fear we will alienate future customers if this keeps up.

Thanks for the feedback and opions. but did you see the rumors in the forum. About 3 years they would be discountuing this model tc that shold make the pic skyrocket what do you all have to say about that. I'm happy as hell
The 3 model year thing is not a rumor. Its a business plan. Scion has every intention to keep each model for only three years each, although it looks like the xB may outstay that. Its very hard to sell a product for more than 3 years without introducing incentives such as rebates. Incentives are totally against the grain of the Scion philosophy so the logical move is to not let them get 4 years old.

The reason Scion is so successful is that their cost of targeting the Gen-Y market was very low because they used existing vehicles. Honda tried it with the Element and ended up with a big up-front design cost.
