At the time I also didn't know how to drive stick and I was a pretty new driver. I took his word for it.

The transmission is the only real disappointment I find in my car. Four speeds? Come on, at least give me five. I also wish that, like the base-grade RSX, we had the tiptronic option where you can just move the shifter over and go a little clutchless. It's not the same as a stick, but it's at least a step in between. Then again, I like the auto the tC has because it'll let you get up to redline if you punch it hard enough.

I've learned stick on my friend's Mazda MP3 and last night I spent some time on another buddy's 89 RX7, and I feel like I'm missing out. If I weren't still 16 and dad hadn't bought the car, I'd probably try selling my car privately for maybe a small profit and then starting over with a stick.

If I were you, I'd go with the stick first. If it's too much, you can switch to auto.
dude!! same story wit me!! my dad bought me the car last year and assumed i wanted auto. then i learned to drive stick in my friends civic and i felt like **** with my automatic!! right now im just raising some money and when the RS 2.0 comes out, i might sell mine and get that

awww, how cute mastering a manual transmission. get the manual. your faux "actually driving the car" experience will be way more fun...til you get tired of a low end daily driver that you have to spend so much kinesic energy on. oh, you might add cai to assist the sporty car feel....maybe even a s/c....but i doubt it. you'll just spend a few years proving you can drive a stick in a sub-compact.

then again, you have no traffic making the leg and attention stuff a hassle, why not shift your way through life? this car is way quicker when you have to manhandle it down the road compared to me just pressing the gas, drinking coffee, smoking a...never mind....

an automatic tC is just for old folk tired of shifting their audis and possibly also for people who understand what the car is....a freakin' nicely styled inexpensive camry that i have no interest in telling it what gear to be in.

real answer:
s/c manual
n/a who gives a f

Jeez, what is up with this 2 week wait crap??

I just ordered my '06 BSP.....

Wait, what was that?? ITS A FIVE SPEED!?!?!?!?!?!?!

I test drove it, first time ever, in major traffic. I LOVED IT. I left the dealer in my Focus, and it just felt soo weird... I went to push in the clutch to take off, and, oh yea, there wasnt one. Now i have just been reading every post in this forum waiting for my car to come. Its soo sad.

Since I still have all you people here helping me out so generously, maybe you can help me out.

First thing I am going to do is tint, 15% all around

But I have been looking into exhausts. Something the g/f gets to buy me when i get her engagement ring. I've been a member on this forum for a long time, but i just kinda sat quietly. I remember there was a post somewhere with all the exhaust clips on it, now i cant seem to find it. Been searching for hours. I know it linked to an external site, but i cant remember the name.

Also, in the spirit of exhaust systems. What products are currently out (dont tell me TRD, i know that). I've been looking into borla. I know what sound i want, but i also want some power out of it too. All the posts i keep pulling up are from like '04 and arent much help to me.

Thanks,
T.J.

the automatic tC gets slightly better gas mileage
It also doesnt get more horsepower.
well it does put more horsepower to the wheels.
For someee reason, I think you're pulling this out of your butt.
im pulling this out of my butt??

the manual tC dynos with about 10 more wheels horsepower than the automatic.
Parasitic Loss

Read up. It's mostly applied as a forced induction term, but the same principals apply. You're going to have more parasitic loss with an auto tranny. Therefore, the Automatics don't make less horsepower, they just get a little more horsepower lost finding the way to the wheels.

Well, i guess my car is on its way. Im told it is on a train heading for chicago, and from there it has to be taken to Mt. Clemens, MI (30 min north of Detroit). I still dont understand how it is going to take 2 weeks to get here if its already on its way.

I just wish it was here already

They just say that so when it gets their early, its a big surprise and makes you feel a lot happier about the customer service.

I have an idea for your manual car. If you get the chance, you should really check out places like San Fransisco, or any place that has hills...steep hills...i bet you'll be very happy. You wanna have fun, right? I bet you'll have a lot of fun. Hahahahahahaha...Evil laughter...

No big deal, that's what emergency brakes are for. You just pull up the handle while you're working the pedals, then let it down when you're releasing the clutch. Easy, and no worries about rolling backward into other cars or burning up your clutch.

The thread starter is a beginner. He probably doesn't even know that the car rolls back when going uphill....do'oh! now he knows....but really, he isn't going to get it his first couple of tries. Especially when there are busy traffic and he's stuck there while everybody behind him keeps on honking at him and all he can do is keep his feet on the brakes.

Driving a Manual is more than just worrying about stop and go traffic, it's also about up and down traffic too.

wow this post is still around... hmm, im a beginner?? i've only been driving since i was 3 (4 wheelers, dirt bikes, jet skis, snomobiles). i just wanted to know peoples opinions who have driven both. It was my first time driving a manual CAR, yet i knew exactly what to do, and had almost no problem. anyways....

UPDATE: I've had my car for, um, 1200 miles and I love it. Thanks for all your help in making my decision. When I find my digi-cam, and do a lil more modding, I'll post some pics.

Thanks,
T.J.
