Default How To Remove Rear Bumper?

Can someone tell me to remove the rear bumper of this car? Someone hit and ran into my car last night and I need to remove the rear bumper to pop the dent out. Luckily there aren't any scratches, but there's this big ___ dent. I'll post pictures up later, but I'm not even at home right now. I need a reply ASAP because I want to fix it now. My poor tC looks ugly.

There are some instructions and diagrams on how to remove the rear bumper on the third page of the XM installation instructions. You can download them here:

Thanks a lot. Read my topic on the dent story! You'll see why I needed to remove the rear bumper.

i am actually quite surprised. how do you not have scratches and just a dent? physically i just don't see how that's possible. i would probably believe it more if you said someone wrap a towel around a hammer and bashed it in.

I have a similar dent, and the scratches on it appear all to be the white paint of the car that hit it. The black paint is intact, which I thought was odd.

If you go to my other topic that I started titled "Fixing A Big Dent", you can see it.

It seems as if someone slowly backed into my car -- and probably didn't even noticed that they hit me. From the looks of it, the car was pretty high up because it only damaged the body line of the rear bumper -- meaning that the bottom of the car who hit me was pretty high off the ground. There are SOME scatches, but they are very faint . I buffed them out with Meguiar's Scratch X and some Gold Class wax.

Oh yeah, the paint was intact and didn't chip off at all! I was surprised.

Anyways, the rear bumper is pretty tricky I think to remove. I was scared to damage anything, but you have to have a little confifence in order to RIP off your rear bumper.

There's a screw and a clip inside each rear wheel well. There's also two other clips on the bottom of the rumper. Open your trunk and there are two screws holding the bumper down. After everything visible is holding the bumper in, there are five clips on each side of the bumper. Here is where you need to have a little confidence. You have to sort of "push up and pull out" the bumper the get all five clips out. I say it's better if you have someone to help you hold the other side so you can take it off together or something.

Okay, gotta go to work. Later.
