I had to get something that was cheaper then my limit for my insurance. I get $25 a day after tax and the Neon was the only thing under $25.
Hopefully I wont be in it for more then a few weeks cause it is SLOOOOWWWW! Plus the lack of power windows and a CD player would drive any tC owner nuts.

I would have thought this thing could be turned around fairly quickly, its pretty clear that you didnt torch your own car here!

Who in their right mind would hurt a beautiful thing like a tC? Anyone that could do that should be forced to drive a Dodge Neon with no power windows for life.

I'm trying to laugh about it right now. At first I was freaked out.... then I was angry... then I was upset... now I am trying to just laugh at it and do my best to stay on top of all the parties involved that need to work on this and resolve the problem.

People ask "what happened to your car" and I just say "it melted"

Funny you should say that, I just came from a '95 Neon w/o power windows. But after I blew the engine, I got a tC!

I'm no fireman, but clearly you can see in the pics that the fire originated inside the steering column and spread throughout the vehicle. How he could suggest someone smoking could do that is ridiculous as all the evidence points to a fire burning its way out. There's just no way someone could do that sort of damage on purpose!

Clearly you have a cooler head than I, as I would've made it my mission in life to have that service manager fired or seriously reprimanded for accusing you of starting the fire. Scion should have you in a better rental right now IMO. That's a very small thing to ask.

Please keep us informed, hopefully this isn't another F150 situation. Just thank goodness you're allright and there was no serious property damage.

Well, the rental is through my insurance right now. So Dodge Neon it is! Toyota seems to be on top of this and my insurance (21st Century) has been amazingly helpful. So far everyone seems concerned. Now I just have to wait 'till they can all look at the car and file the paper work. Thanks for all your support guys and girls.

No meat and potatoes updates until my insurance company and toyota/scion get to inspect the vehicle personally. Wish I knew more but nothing new to report today.

Talked with my insurance adjuster today. He said that it sounds like once Toyota verifys that all the eletrical things I have on the car are dealer & factory installed they will have to accept responsibility. I'm going to give the Toyota lawyers another call tomorrow. Keep your fingers crossed there is a car that hasnt melted in my future!

Agreed, but if he didn't do anything wrong. What does he have to worry about?

Their job is to refuse liability regardless of the situation.
