If i had to pick one and only one ergonomic issue.. I'd say adjustable seatbelt height. It's a bit too high for short guys (and gals) like me.

5 ) Full Lighted Third Brake like.

6 ) LED tails standard.

7 ) Better seats, ideally softer but ones to hold u in, so its great for the long trips.

8 ) Remote Start standard.

9 ) Flush Wheels w/ fenders and more options for them

10 ) Smooth dash

heated/cooled seats??? remote start? = is this a joke??? go buy a lexus or an acura rl..................
i had them in my last car, and it was the BEST when u get in ur car and its 0º the seats r ICE COLD and it sucks... remote start is standard on ALOT of cars BTW

and i forgot 3 more things to add to that list

11 ) keyless entry, like on the Prius, and Nissans, just press on a button on the handle and the car unlocks (gotta have the key on u, or near the car)

12) Push Button Start, like on the Prius and Nissans also

13) Door Handles flush in the B Pillar, or next to the quarter panel... it'll look ALOT cleaner.

I don't know dave... All of the stuff you have requested so far are nice features, but those features and everything the tC already has will bring up the sticker price. some of the ones you've brought up usually is available thru aftermarket.

Also, from a economy car standpoint, remote starts are standard only thru GM economy vehicles from what I know. All the others mfg. that make them standard are most likely high end cars. (Lexus, Infiniti, Benz... )

Another thing
Does anyone here have a problem with cold air drafts coming from the master window switches? I usually rest my arm on the door. I noticed it big time in cold weather when I'm going hwy speeds. If this is a issue, the doors need better insulation.

Nice idea. leave that engineering on the dodge HEMIs though.
I don't think 4 bangers can run on 2 cylinders when the other half shuts down. V6 and V8 can do that without the effects of an out of balanced engine. But on inline 4s, the timing and balance will be off if 2 cylinders were to power a car that's 3000+ lbs. Advancing the spark and fuel delivery to 2 operating cyl to accomodate the other 2 cyl shut down will not help. Since Toyota has the market, complete engine shutdown with a hybrid platform is better technology than the other tecnology used in those HEMIs.

An all wheel drive tC is possible. turbo'd as standard... not possible. The new toyota matrix has the same 2az-fe platform, but coupled with a different tranny and an electronic controlled awd set up in the driveline. Only thing is it only comes with an automatic . I believe that particular matrix XRS is priced between $20-$22K. Not bad IMO.

Are you sure about the "out of balance engine" idea?? How does the V6 do it then , if say one side of 3 cylinders operates, while the other half of 3 cyl. shuts down? I hear the Honda Pilot(V6) operates on 4 cyl. when at highway speeds!! I'm not 100% sure either, but I was thinking about it from the standpoint of shutting down 2 cyl (either middle two, or outer two .... then possibly rotating the sequence as the car is driving .... thus would not put an over-burden on strickly 2 cyl. Also, its a 2.4 motor ,so shutting down 2 cyl = would still leave 1.2L of engine to power the vehicle... strickly around town, or possibly on freeway cruising speeds(steady 55-60 mph). Think about it, the Honda Fit's in Japan.. and some of the rest of the world- Honda does make a 1L and 1.3L VTEC 4cyl .... to power a 2400ish lbs vehicle..... at all times Considering the tC is 2900ish pounds, again ... not so sure if this is possible, but around town/cruising FWY speeds , you only need so much hp/torque to get around(the estimate I've heard is 16 hp , on average). Now, on a 1.8L engine ... or smaller(my engine ), this would def. not be a possible feet to shut down 1/2 of the cylinders.... then it would be a .9L or .75L engine powering a 2200-2300 car around town/freeway!! I'd think you'd need a 2L- 2.5L 4 cyl. to possibly make it happen. The 1.8L VVTL-i engine would be interesting... given its 170ish hp , its got some umph.

Decent price ... but IMO, $20K for a Impreza RS (AWD of course) is even a better deal HOwever, that is a 4-door sedan, but has 170hp + better handling (boxer engine.. better center of gravity). Now the Impreza hatchback is a bit more.. like $22ish K

Very good points!!!
What do you expect for $17-19K

If you want all those extra things, AWD, etc .. etc, , the car manufactures will make sure the customer is paying come financing time Thats just how they are, nothing personal .... just business

As many blind people as there are here, don't discredit the entire community. There's still a handful of us with our heads properly on our shoulders.

i work at a car rental office, so i see LOTS of different cars of all different makes and models, and remote start is on alot of 'ecomony cars' like the alitma if that even is one, and i know some of the kias and hyundai's have remote start also

You gotta push the envolope and ask for it(squeeky wheel gets the grease )

Think about it, eventually everything that first Lexus gets(ie. w/ the vvt-i in the IS300 ... and wasn't it in the GS 300 even before that??) , will in 2-4 years get trickled down to Toyota / Scion. Some options take a little longer then others.
