why did they even bother to change the colors? i agree with others in that if i see a silver or blue on the road, i won't be able to tell the difference.

Well, the 6-CD changer used to be a $449 option as far as I remember. Now, you can spend $200 less, get an iPod with the savings, and instead of swapping/burning CDs you could carry your whole music library with you and play it in your car. Yeah, Scion really screwed up that one!
oh yeah, sorry, i was wrong. a company forcing you to buy another hundreds of dollars device on top of their hundreds of dollars audio upgrade in order to play more than just what one cd can hold (mp3 or not) in your car is the sign of a great company. silly me.

They are forcing you? Since when? For that $450 on the Scion CD changer, you could easily find an after-market add-on. Times are changing, more people are starting to use MP3 players than CDs. If the company sees that an option they have designed/paid someone to design is not popular and is not selling well, they remove/replace it. If the 6 CD changer option would be selling well, they would not remove it, it's plain business common sense. The iPod is the most popular, fastest selling MP3 player in the world. I work for a company that makes microdevices for checking precision of various circuits/parts, and the companies making the iPod hard drives cannot make them fast enough and keep ordering our equipment. Give it a few years, and most cars will have MP3 focused audios vs. CDs. Scion is just ahead in the economy market.

And I really don't understand, what's better, paying about $550-$600 to get a portable 20GB player that also easily hooks up to your car, or pay $450 to get the exact same stereo as before, but one that can hold 6 CDs?

ah, whatever. why am i even complaining? this doesn't effect me because one, i already have my 05, and two, money isn't a problem for me, so the prices don't matter. so if i was in that situation it wouldn't make a difference. i don't have an ipod but i could just go and get one. come to think of it, maybe i'll go and buy an ipod anyway even though it doesn't hook up to my 05. but still, choices are nice and not everyone has, or wants to buy, an ipod. but that's the 06 people's problem, if anyone even sees it as a problem.

Hmm yes IIP and NB are very very similar- that's actually good in a way, because I wanted an IIP and was worried that the new blue would look a lot different. Its a little less bold in hue and darker, but close enough that I can live with it

Thank god I bought the IIP. I wanted as much blue as possible. The new silver looks flatter, the old one looks more metallic, whcih looks classier to me.

Oh, and moriarty, thanks so much for the side by side pics! I do agree with the other fellow that the NB looks a little duller or less cool, but not enough, at least in the pics, to make me choose something else. And I'll definitely be looking forward to seeing them/the Nautical Blue in person.

hey moriarty, how hard is it for you dealers to give me a different color if i already put my order in? i ordered a NB and i'm waiting for their shipment to get in, but if there's a FM on the shipment I might want that...

It shouldn't be too hard to switch. it may leghthen you wait time though. You may luck out. Anyway, if you don't want the blue the wait shouldn't be a problem if you get what you want. the dealer can't force you to take the color you don't want. the force isn't that strong with them.

no problem on the pics. like i said, i am here for the team.

I believe it is a 60/40 in favor of the automagic but, i am not too sure. I haven't seen the numbers reciently. So, i may be wrong.

thanks.

btw, I think dealers CAN force you to take whatever you ordered, or forfeit your deposit - that is a common business practice which IS ABSOLUTELY FAIR and is used in many things, not just car buying. Heck, if you miss your dental appointment, they will charge you $50 anyway, for a "missed appointment fee" - at least they do around here. That is, unless you call ahead and change it, which I guess most Scion dealers allow you to do since they have no problem selling the cars anyway. But as a matter of FORCE - while they can't FORCE you to take a car you don't want, they can charge you for cancelling something you agreed to by placing the order. Business is business, placing an order the car makes you responsible for the cost and trouble the dealer assumes in trying to fulfil your order, and so if you cancel you should compensate the dealer for these costs.

I have people switch colors on me all the time, including one member who posts here. Its not a big deal in most cases. The only time it becomes a problem is when a person requests accessories to be added at the port. Thing like fog lights, spoilers and ground effects kits are cheaper for me to have done before they arrive so if a person wants them, I'll have them installed at the port. If a person who ordered one color with accessories changes his mind, it gets sticky becuase I am stuck with a car that will be more difficult to sell and I have to force a customer to take accessories they may not have wanted.

Other than that, I'll let anybody out of an order without any hassles. They just have to understand that it can take a lot more time to get it.

i don't know about where you live but, there is no such thing as a non-refundable deposit in CA so.... (fill in the blank)

I fill you cliffy, it sucks when somebody orders a car with all kinds of stuff on it and backs out or changes color. That is why I dealer install everything, AFTER the customer buys it. We have been burnt too many times. Just like in life, a few bad apples spoils the bunch.

that, and the cars get to the dealership faster when you don't port install.

Its funny how only current owners of the IIP will say that the NB is ugly, or is radically different from the IIP.

Truth is, the difference is quite subtle.

Maybe they just enjoy the fact that their car (color) was only issued for one year, somehow making it "better".

At any rate, I think all of the tC's are sweet, regardless of the color.
