well when the the assistant GM contacted me i told him that i would be at work, and that i wouldn't be able to go right then and there. he said he needed to get the car sold today. i told him i would try to get there as soon as possible after work.
so now this is affecting my work i was already late because i was on the phone all day trying to get this problem fixed. the sh*t i do to get this damn car.
When i got the call from my dealer that the car was in, I couldn't even think about work. I became a professional clock watcher for the day. Just make sure you've got everything settled at the bank and they're ready to take care of you. I'd consider myself fortunate considering the cirumstances. You probably got the best possible outcome so just take it in stride and get behind the wheel! Don't worry, you'll get your revenge when Scion/Toyota calls you for your satisfaction survey. Headquarters takes those seriously.
My sales guy called me to tell me that the folks ahead of me for the car I wanted declined. He asked if I can get to the dealer by 5:30. I get off work at 5:30; so I told him that the earliest I would be there was 7 - 7:30 PM. My sales guy then told me that he gets off work at 6; BUT then went on and told me that there would be another sales guy that can take care of me....I'm pretty damn sure that they would have held onto the car for another couple of days. Hell, it was sitting there for 2 or 3 days before I got it because they were running down the list of folks with that color preference.
I smell a huge load of BS here. They have the sale, it seems that though they are just pushing you to get it sooner. Why?

They're just pushing so they can post the mark and get the sale. It is the old way of doing business, not the Scion way.
The only thing I would recommend differently from the start is to have you complete all the loan application items at your bank beforehand, and your salesman should have given you a heads up 1) when the car went into freight status and 2) when it went to ground status. As soon as it went into G status he should have called you and told you to pick up your check at the bank -- that way, as soon as the vehicle had been PDIed you could have completed the paperwork in 40 minutes and been out of there.
I try to cover all that with my customers so that there are as few surprises as possible. And as far as the deposit / down payment issue goes, every dealership is different -- all customers need to ask what the policy is.
Our dealership requests that the vehicle be picked up within 72 hours of its arrival. And to help my customers, I let them know that ahead of time so that they can arrange their banking and insurance and then let me know if they are going to be on vacation and when they can pick up their car.
Sounds like you got shortchanged on communication, and that your salesman could not care less about basic customer service.

Exactly they are pushing me to get it sooner so they can get the sale. They don't care who buys the car. They just want to sell it now. And I think the guy that wanted my tC was going to pay a higher interest than I was.
The reason I didn't complete the bank loan application is because at the time I was up in the air with the rates. The dealer told me they can possibly beat the rate. So why am I going to get the bank loan already when the dealer told me they could possibly beat it. By the time they let me know they couldn't beat it the bank was closed on Friday, so I had to wait until Monday, something the dealer didn't like.
They gave me no type of status with the car. The day it came it they said I would need to get the car now, right then and there. They did not let me know ahead of time whatsoever. They didn't even give me a time frame to which they will sell the tC to someone else. THe first person that came in and had a check they tried to sell it to them.
I have no idea what the details of the policy are for the deposit, I would have to ask. But it would have been nice if they would have told me when I gave them the deposit. When I ask what the deposit was for, they told me it's to allocate a black tC for me. They didn't go into details.
Not only the salesman but the whole dealership does not care about customer service. They are trying to blame the situation on me by saying I should have gone to pick up the car without getting the loan yet, so that nobody can buy it from them.

Amen.
We definately know at least a couple of days in advance of when the car arrives.
