Default Routine maintenance - Drain & Fill - ATF

Hello All,

I know there's already a few tread on how to change your ATF for your TC. This isn't an offical how-to, just sharing my experience and whatever you do is at your own risk.

I have only about 33K but I haven't changed the ATF since I got the car in 2004.

Used the recommended ATF since my brother had some in-stock and didn't needed it.

1) Drained it from the hose, so I don't have to buy anything at this time.

2) Re-filled at the transmission dipstick hole with a funnel with long narrow tip

Any reason you drained it from the hose instead of the drain plug?

Jon,

My brother was the one who did it and I think it was just his perference.

Correct me if I am wrong, but there is also a gasket for the AT drain plug which I didn't have one at the time.

Oh ok I was just wondering. Yeah I think there is a gasket that's supposed to be replaced. I didn't buy a new one when I did it though.

so all you need is a wrench instead of a that hex tool?

btw, what size is that hex tool for the pan?

I'm not sure of the size of the hex tool since we didn't change the ATF going that route.

To remove the hose you use a plier for the hose clamp. You loosen the clamp then slid it back away from the fitting. You can now remove the hose by twisting and pulling it. When your done just put the hose back into the fitting and move the clamp forward into its original position.
