Each gear will be more shorter, allowing for faster acceleration. The addition of the 5th gear allows for the first 4 to be short, while having a cruising gear as the 5th, which could possibly be taller than the current AT's 4th gear, allowing for lowering highway RPMS and better gas mileage.

God damn am I jealous.

i'm starting to think that the 5spd auto is more for better mpg than performance. if u think about, there is no tiptronic or sportshift, meaning u cant stay in the gear long without flooring the pedal. it will be harder to get the car to downshift when going up on freeways because the car has to cycle thru more gears. my rsx is a 5spd auto and u have to give it some gas and time before it will downshift to a desirable acceleration gear. with sportshift i dont have a problem. i'll stick with my 4spd tC.

If the only thing the 5 spd changes is a taller 5th gear, with the first 4 being the same, then I wouldnt mind it as much.

If you read my post, I said V6 Camry's

Do you think I make this crap up? My mother's 2002 V6 has a 4 speed 192 HP motor.

My grandma bought an 03' V6, and not only did it come with a 5 speed auto, but also the engine from the Avalon with VVT-I (210 HP I belive)

The 2005 Camry 4-cycl NOW come this a 5 speed auto.......................

Damn. You are too smart for me. I guess you know Toyota's product better than I do and I have been doing this for over 2 years. My bad. I did not mean to insult your high intelligence. I just posted it because Scion's do not have a V6 engine and since the tC has the same engine as the 4 cylinder Camry and NOT the V6, I did not think that statement mattered

I was just going to ask about the iPod link up in the new HU's. Thanks for clearing this up.

So it being May already, I'm wondering roughly when the new tC will be available. I was going to pick up an auto this weekend, but can possibly wait. My wife and I share a car though and its pretty tough since my new job can keep me away a lot more and leave her and the two kids stranded.

Default Scion news flash

Hey everyone. They are changing the body style for 2006 so they are limiting production of the XB. So you should order your now. And, they don't know what it is going to look like. Also the are maybe coming out with a new body style of toyota echo in the Toyota line. Brand new body style but it will basiclly be the Echo to all those who love the Echo. In the future they hope to do limited production of all scions to 110K to 100K productiona year. So it will become more difficult to get a scion. That goes for all Scions!!!!! They are going for limited productin so limited avaliablity. Anyway, I have some pretty awesome friends over at the Don Davis tOYOTA DEALERSHIP IN aRLINGTON, TX ... go see them and they can hook you up. Hal Norman and Richard Pruneda (And ladies he is HOT!!!!)

Hey I want to have a scion party here in Arlington. my email is wendydecember@yahoo.com anyone interested email me. Ducees

OK, here we go.

wendydecember - no offense, but that is ALL wrong. The xB is not changing AT ALL. There will be some minor modifications to the xA, but that's it. And if any of the cars is changing or going away first, it's the xA. I'm sorry, but knwoing some hot guys at the dealership who make stuff up doesn't make for accurate assertions.

There will be an ECHO replacement announced before the end of the year, and my money is on the newly redesigned Yaris from Europe. Sharp looking car, for sure. In addition, we will be getting a RAV4 replacement, the FJ Cruiser, a new Tundra (HUGE), a hybrid Camry, a hybrid Corolla, a hybrid Sienna, and more stuff that will help propel Toyota to world domination.

As far as the 5spd AT, the chat guy is prob trying to stop the hemorraging at this point. I'm sure they know the info is out here, and they aren't allowed to confirm it from a company standpoint. I'm fairly certain that when the District Manager gets back from vacation, I'm going to get spoken to.

I'm trying to upload the little portion of the PDF that shows the production order, and it says 5spd AT. If it's on there, it's on the car. Period. Plus, the cars have already been produced, and currently getting shipped over. I saw the production order for May, and they were on there.

Let's see if it works:

We'll see next month.

I've got no reason in the world to disseminate intentionally wrong information. All that does is detract from my position as a reference in these matters. If I believe it to be true, I will post it. And I'll be happy to defend it, if you so desire. I emailed the PDF to someone from these boards yesterday.

Like I said, what could I possibly have to gain from not being on the level. I'm a damn dealer! It's my job to know, and to tell others what I know. Heck, I get a kick out of knowing more the average person, so this is as much for me as it is for everyone else!

LATER - I'm off to Ichiban and then I'm gonna get my SITH on! SITH happens![/img]

No changes in xB for 2006. (major changes that is)

Why mess with perfection.

They probably will change for 2007, but then it should have a new name.

She has some incorrect information, but she did not get it from anyone at our dealership. She knows one of our new sales associates who went to the Scion training this week. When he told her some of the news he heard at the meeting, she completely confused it all and jumped to conclusions. Please do not let one mistake by someone outside of our delaership ruin your opinion of us.
They are going to limit production in preparation for a body change, but the soonest I can imagine that is for 2007 or 2008.

Default just my say

So to all of this he said she said I think it's all to soon to gripe over, so someone heard that the TC is getting a 5 spd auto, that the XB is changing next year '06 or '07, or that Toyota will have all of these new cars... my point being is that all of these could be true or false, or 1 year off, a lot of people will not know for sure untill they see them. Having proof to back stuff up helps alot but who does it help? maybe the dealer, maybe the customer. Keep your minds open, and have a wonderful day!!

Thanks
Steve
