Yeah, hmm TRD way to go, now July is the release date.

To the guy who replied to my mid to upper $20K
if the new 06 tC does come with a supercharger(option)
and you get a buncha goodies added onto your car
you can easily look at mid $20K

But we'll see the price when it finally comes out

Why do away with autos? the tC is a sports car regaurdless
to what anyone says. Look at the Evo 8 and Evo MR, and the STi. Those cars dont even have the option for an automatic. Yes they are known to be rally/race cars, but they are still considered sports cars. Maybe not do away with the AT competely, maybe do some kind of sportronic/tiptronic/manumatic transmission
The tC is not even a sports coupe, it is a compact. I agree it has huge potential, and i would not consider an auto for mine, but this car is not designed to be "sports car" per se, which is why they are offering the auto.

Yes the tC is SUPPOSED to have an available supercharger, but it is not out yet, so you cant compare a non-SC car with a SC one.

You first complained that if the price was around 20k it would be too expensive. But now you are saying with the sc it could be that expensive. Well, if the SC were out right now it would bring the price to around 20k, so in that scenario nothing would change.

The thing that we are all picking on is that your comparisons are not clear and do not compare apples to apples
My apologies for not being clear. I just dont see how a 5 speed AT is going to be
a few more hundred dollars. AT arent cheap, let alone 3/4 speed AT. Like I said
I want to see the price of a 2006 Scion tC w/ the 5 SPD AT.

Toyota upgraded the Camry tranny from a 4 to a 5 speed auto in 2005. The car also got ABS, auto hedalights, and steering wheel audio controls. The price only increase was less than $300 for all of that.

I think the part that we mis-communicated on what the price difference. I was looking at the difference in price between the new tranny and the current one, not the price of the tranny itself. No biggie.... Either way I am sticking to my manual tranny

I wanted to post the changes as well. I think that the info is basically the same, but I am posting a Cut-n-Paste from Word.

06 MY Product Enhancement Outline

xA
Significant Exterior Changes
• Upper/Lower Grille – Honeycomb inserts (like TC); Rectangular, more aggressive
• Lower Intake – More aggressive design
• Headlamps – Detail changes; “eyebrow” added
• Rocker Panel – Color-keyed; more refined
• Turn Signals – tC type signal in outside mirror
• Tail Lamps – Re-design emphasizing width
• Lower Bumper – Color-keyed; improved integration
• Wheel Covers – 3 new wheel covers (now all shared w/ xB)
Noticeable Interior Changes
• Seat Fabric – Freshen appearance
• Steering Wheel – New steering wheel with audio controls
• Meters – Background changed from white to silver on speedometer
• iPOD/Mini-jack – iPOD and mini-jack connectors added to center console
• Audio Head Unit – New design to be shared on all 3 Scions

• Dropped 1E3, Phantom Gray Pearl and 3P2, Black Cherry Pearl
xB
Product Freshening
• 3 new wheel covers (shared with xA)
• iPOD/Mini-jack connectors on center console
• New audio head unit design
2 New Exterior Colors
• 2 New Exterior Colors Effective December 2005
Added 3Q3, Salsa Red Pearl and 1F4, Shadow Mica
• Dropped 6M7, Camouflage Metallic and 3P2, Black Cherry Pearl
tC
Product Freshening
• Steering wheel audio controls
• New audio head unit design (shared w/ xA & xB)
• iPOD/Mini-jack connectors (inside center console)
2 New Exterior Colors
• Added 1F7, Classic Silver Metallic and 8S6, Nautical Blue
• Dropped 1E7, Silver Streak Mica and 8P4, Indigo Ink Pearl

My apologies for some of the confusion on the xB, but that was last minute on the dealer web site. As far as the price increases go, that has not been finalized yet, and we have heard numbers as high as $250 bandied about.

Good job, Shorberg and IBJanky. You had the right info on there. That's how these forums work. Everyone is working together to get the right stuff out there.

Nice post Reno. You scooped me due to email jam in my company. I've killed my IT guy just to show him how important this whole thing is.

Just got a revised edition of what JUMBO submitted and the color changes on the xB will not go into effect until this December. Other than that, I got the same info.

My guess is the only reason for a 5 spd AT on the tC
is to compete w/ the Cobalt SS. Which infact can SMOKE
a 5 spd tC(stock).

Im sorry but I cant see alot of 2006 5 spd AT tC's selling
to a bunch of 20 somethings, which was the target age for
Scion to begin with! The price will be too high! It will be in the same
price range as the Cobalt SS. Mid to Upper $20,000

I would rather see a 6 spd Manual in 2006, and completely
do away with AUTOMATIC Tranmissions
Yeah really, where are you getting this info? Why would the Scion Tc go up almost $3000 when they switch to a 5spd auto? That doesn't make sense. In a couple years I could see Scion offering a supercharged Tc that would compete with the Cobalt SS and the upcoming Honda Civic Si. Maybe then it will top $20k.

Besides, the Cobalt is a piece of junk. And i haven't seen a Cobalt SS around. Probably because nobody want to pay $21k for a supped up cavalier.

My friend actually has one, and while it's nice for a chevy, I'd rather cough up the extra 2 grand and buy an RSX-Type S

If we install an Eclipse AVN head unit, I'm assuming the steering wheel audio controls will still work with the new HU?

Smart money is on 'YES' for that question. Good thinking!

Not many know that Fujitsu Ten (Eclipse's parent company) makes our NAV haed units in Lexus and Toyota.

It ought to work like a charm. Hell, in some of our vehicles, the power and signal plugs on the back of the radio are exactly the same as the Ecplise. Nuts!

This newly freshened xA has my interest. I can't wait to see pics of all the enhancements.

Does anyone know if the IPOD hookup on the new head units will allow you to change tracks, etc. from the head unit like the Alpine ones? Or is it just going to be an audio-in jack, meaning you would have to do all that on the IPOD itself?

I don't have an IPOD now, but I think I would buy one if the head unit was capable of controlling it. No more burning MP3 CDs.

Can the audio controls on the steering wheel be used with aftermarket h/units. I know that no one can be positive since it's not out yet however has it been done in other vehicles with steering wheel audio controls?

if all of these changes are made for the freshened xA, i will be very impressed with scion. I am definately waiting for the 06 xA. I have question when it says production starts 7/4/05, is that when it hits the dealerships or is that the date they'll start to make them? Cuz if thats the date they'll start making them im assuming it'll take another couple of months for them to hit dealerships.

i have a couple of '06 tC's on my inventory that should be here in June. If you place an order and the dealership has to order it from the factory, it will be an '06.
