Sorry to say, the Si is much quicker than the TC...my friends gf has a tc...he has an si.he runs 14.9 all day, and in the tc 15.8. I have a WRX that when it was stock, i could hit 13.9 on a good day...i could get an entire second faster in the SI than the tc in the 1/4...the only way the tc would be faster than the si is with turbo or supercharger...4-5k? I haven't driven a turbo or supercharged one..The Si either way, would still own in suspension/handling.
Si isn't nearly as smooth a driver than the TC, so it's what you're looking for. TC IN MY OPINION HAS MORE POTENTIAL for bigger numbers...TCs are the ones i see getting built making ridiculous numbers(like ZPIs)...Civic SIs(can't do much with those, unless get a turbo)...a TC with the manual, PULLSSS. Even with a WRX, I still liked the way the TC pulled once it has an intake and exhaust.
As Si is closer in comparison to an RSX, and a TC is not keeping up with an RSX-Type S...not without some work. Scions were originally about the Style..but the TCs have potential for pretty big power, if ure going that route.

i know that a turbo tc would beat an SI but i dont plan on getting a turbo ill prob jest end up getting an intake and exhaust if i do get the TC
I don\'t have any mods in my car, it\'s 100% stock.
The SI isn\'t that much quicker.

most Si owners will NEVER run a 14.9 stock trust me i looked intothe Si and the rsx-s hardcore before i bought my car.. most people even with the slightly faster RSX-S are only able to pull around a 15.2 on average with a good driver
i even test drove a 08 Si... and its a great car with alot of power up top. i liked it so much i even tried to buy one but the Honda sales people like to up the price to insain levels ... after i left a second honda dealer ship completely disgusted that i couldn't get the car i wanted for even msrp i desided to head over to a scion dealership. i drove the tC and the two cars are like night and day. where the Si has no power down low and feel sluggish the tC felt like it had boat loads in comparison. but when you get higher into the rev range this is where the Si's power starts to shine.. basically what this all came down to is that the tC is a much better daily driver car. think about it, in 90% of normal driving situations you need the power down low and thats the tC's strong point over the Si
don't get me wrong even though i think the tC is the better daily driver and 10x sexier looking, as it stands now i would still take an Si over a tC any day......
that is unless the tC came with the S/C and full TRD suspension setup for the same price or lower then the Si... which Toyota should have made a factory option in the first place ugg

I think tC biggest failing is that it cost a heck of a lot more to match SI spec OTD off the dealer lot. Put in trd S/C, trd coilover, trd LSD and you're looking at atleast $1k over SI's price at comparable specs.
I think toyota should bite the bullet, offer a Scion tC trd edition that comes with s/c, coilover (or atleast the new anti-roll bar), lsd standard at acompetitive price tag. We'd all win!

get what you like, I don't race so having a slower car doesn't matter to me. I like the interior of the civic and tc, but i think the tc looks a lot better on the outside than the new civics.
but if you want speed i think we can all agree that the mazdaspeed 3 is the best bang for buck in this class =P

yes mazda speed 3 if you like cheap fit and finish i drove the new si and almost cried no tq at all fast aint fast unless it feels fast lol i drive a xb2 its got a good amount of power when i got into the si i found myself downshifting in the mountains when i dont have to in my xb2 could have ben the motor wasnt worked in and another draw back to the si let of the gas pedal and it revs up another 700 rpms so the motor doesnt go into a lean state for .5 of a second kinda feels like ____ they both have there perks each to his own
Id take the tC over the Si. I hate the look of the Si. Since I dont auto x my car or anything like that it handles just fine. With the supercharger its just as fast in a straight line and it has torque. Driving it like I stole it is fun but I dont want that to be the only way to go fast.

Most of Toyota/Honda/Subaru are American made.
The Camry, Car of the Year, one of the most reliable high quality cars... are American made.
I'm sure you're aware of that
