How far do you live from school? Couldn't you just take the bus?
my school wasn't even in the same city. I dont see how this matters anyways. Would u like to take the bus? I dont think anyone enjoys taking a bus.

I think it is relevant. Sometimes you have to do things you don't like doing. How bad is it to take the bus to get home? It's free and it gets you home. At least he had a ride home. I use to walk 4-5 miles home everyday from school. Like you said "you dont know everyone's story so u can stfu :D"

I drove a '95 Corolla WAGON for 4 years of college. Then I decided to work my butt off and give myself a graduation present...

Wanted an IS300 at first but I figured the extra 10k+ would go into buying a new house when I get married. ^_^

Those that got a new tC as a gift? Congrats! At least you're not driving another civic... =P

I'm 17 and I have a tC. I got mine when I was 16 in October. I didn't get my license until November. The tC was paid off the minute it was bought. I am grateful for this car, but please don't get me wrong. My family needed a second car, so the tC was bought. But since I am the only one who drives it at the moment, it is considered mine, but my younger sister just got her permit, so now I have to share. =(

I am fortunate and I know it. I took my first car for granted and totalled it on the 14th day, not totally my fault. I've never forgotten that .

I used my mom's car when I could or I got a ride from friends. I always thanked them and I always got a ride. I usually got a ride for John, my best friend whose parents are very well-off. What did he get and his parents give him, a 91 pickup truck and he was thankfull.

I depend on my parent's a lot. They trust me and I respect them. I know how fortunate I am. Everytime I start to envy the other guy, car, salary, etc. I remember that it could be much worse. A good friend I know did it all. Pay for her first car by working the late shift at Perkins. Went to college on her own dime. I also envied her. She was very independent but her ENVY for our friends that got brand new cars when they turned 16 made her change. Instead of enjoying the independence and hard work she was underneath a jealous individual.

Thus, people that don't know what they have, are lazy or just don't understand the opppurtunities given to them will one day catch up to them. Appreciation and Gratefulness are two things many people don't have.

By the way, a tC for a b-day present is manageable, a lexus, 350z, Caddy, is not. Don't abuse your priviledged status. Honor it and take the tC or xB for that matter.

I dont see why you are so mad about kids getting new cars for free from their parents. I mean if they do, good for them because they are fortunate enough. As long as they dont take the **** for granted. Maybe im biased because im going to be getting a newish car when im old enough and the tC is handed down to me in like 2 or 3 years. Most people feel that they are fortunate enough to recieve something so nice that theyll cherish it and take care of it. Dont hate on other people that have good things happen to them because for all you know they could be jealous about something that you have and they dont.

wow I never realized how good i have it. ive had a car even before i had my liscence. ive never had to walk home from school a single day and i would get so ____ED some days that I had to drive my dads 1991 toyota pickup to school because my p.o.s. mustang had to be fixed. i never realized this because everyone at my school drives brand new civics, acuras, corollas, lexus's, scions, and even wrx's!!! at least one person each week at my school would drive up with a new car bought by their mommies and daddies. at least i pay for half of my car and actually have a job.

this one girl at my school was given a brand new BMW 7 series for her 16th birthday - totaled it 2 months later, and got a brand new evo!

i'm 21 right now, 3rd year college student... when i was 18, senior year in high school...i wanted a car... just a damn car to drive around .... so december of that senior year... i got a job myself at PANDA EXPRESS.....

and after FLIPPING all that rice and orange chicken.... i made enough money to buy myself a $785 1986 honda civic and drove it for 3 months before the clutch went out and so I donated it to the red cross.................. yup!

i was then carless for 6 months, until my parents finally got me a 1996 honda civic ex...for $6000 ....of which i owned from 18 to 21 yrs old now.... and now i'm working again, two jobs.... to help my parents on the down payment... and buying a 2006 Solara in the next month (september 2005).

this is my life......... everyday at school, i see kids driving BMW M3's, M5's, E55 AMG, Evo8, STI, and I KNOW they didn't PAY for it themselves..... yet i dunt care, i dunt get jealous... cuz yes, its like what someone said...LIFE AIN'T FAIR..... try going to SOMALIA and look at the ppl who live there and tell me if you are "fortunate" or not....

but really, if you want to blame...... i dont' want to say this..but really if you want to find someone(thing) to blame... blame your own parents!!!

My family is not wealthy, but were not poor and I work hard as well, and I'm glad you work hard and I have the highest respect for you, but you gotta know were not driving a Benz here, how many 16 year olds do you see with a Civic EX?
Interesting... This 16 yr old doesn't even have a clue what his parents paid for it. In San Jose after tax, licensing, and fees it actually starts around $18,500- more like a tad over $19,000 if like me you assume his parents aren't stupid enough to start a 16 yr old out in a car with manual transmission and got an automatic. He was right about the $300-$350 a month figure, but if it's so easy to pay that much a month I'd like to see him try it by himself (not to mention insurance for a 16 yr old and today's California gas prices.) Anyone given a brad new Scion Tc on their 16th b-day is definately spoiled.

I am 16 and I ordered a tC. Yes my dad cosigned with me but that doesn't change that im paying for every penny of it. People like you dont get out enough because you obviously have a stereotypical image of a 16 year old. I work straight doubles during the day every day in the summer and almost every day after school and im just a junior in high school. YES it is possible for a kids like us to pay for it and just because people like you dont have oppurtunities to take advantage of like working or getting a car or cosigner doesnt mean that u have the right to label us as spoiled. If some parents got their kid a car who is say 25 or 30 chances are you wouldnt be calling them a spoiled brat and i know slackers who are that old who dont work half as much as me, or kids my age. Oh and my tc is a manual, my dad must be reall stupid for letting me do that huh? but it would be too hard for you to imagine that not all 16 y/o cant drive or drive without speeding or wrecking it. Get the image out of your head about us when you only hear about the slackers or the "spoiled brats" that are our age cuz you must not hear about the ones who do pay for it... damn, it must suck to be you cuz the way your attitude is you must have had a hard knock life growing up. Just because you dont have the same oppurtunities that some kids that are 16 and deserving doesnt give you a reason to hate.... f*ck you & quit _____ing

My sister and I both got new '06 tC's mine in Nautical Blue Metallic hers is Flint Mica. I worked as hard as I could for 6 months at my job to save for a car, I was happy because I had a 3 thousand dollar down payment. My sister wanted a brand new car since I was getting one, she saved nothing, and she has it and treats it like dirt. I baby my tC wash it once a week vacuum once a week do all the good stuff. I was with her today when she was driving hers even though by accident, she curbed the wheel. The stock rim is scratched (not to bad) and the tire on the side is ripped. We went to the dealer they said nothing is wrong just watch it. I was freaking out she was calm. Sorry for the long post, just sorta off topic, but i think shes a spoiled brat and dosen't deserve a tC. (if your wondering im 17 shes 20).

Ok now my story

I'm 17 and drove around a 85 Jetta for 2 years. And now after years of always making the honor roll, keeping a B average my parents bought me a tC. So yeah some people think i'm spoiled. I don't give a crap. Do i flaunt what i have? No. Do i go around bragging and showing it off in front of people who have crappier cars? No. To me a spoiled brat is can be read as a rich snob, and most teenagers that have tC's don't fit that definition.

BTW in relation to other cars kids get as gifts, is a 15K tC really make a kid spoiled?

And its funny how the original poster has kept quiet all this time. Its probably for him to take his anti-depression medicine.

social classism. i bought my car on my own but I would love to be in the financial position to buy my kids (when i have them) a new car. Just because someone is bought a new car doesn't mean they are spoiled or that their character is any less. Kids, don't let this guy hate on you. So your parents got you a new car, you still have other oppurtunities to prove your independence. Pay your own gas, mods, insurance.

"Brothers don't shake hands, Brothers hug." Tommy Boy

Man, some people need a HUG in here! Who cares who gets what for their B-days (unless its strippers !Be sure to invite me over!) Just be glad that YOU even have a Scion! Worry about what YOU DO HAVE! Not what YOU DON'T HAVE! I didn't have a car for 3 years because I was saving up $$ for a NEW car! (Something about 'new car smell' that gets me !) I rode my bike during that time and was lucky enough to have friends & family who would pick/drop me off. Besides, most of the people that are 'given' their cars will either total or trash them while you still have yours. Don't blame the teens for this, blame the parents.
