still, 72000 miles doesn't sound too bad for me... and it was from Toyota as well as the letterhead outlining the platinum coverage stated.
Are you sure it was a 7/72 and not a 7/75? If it was a 7/72, that is an aftermarket warranty of some sort. See my above comments on that. The 75K plans are much less expensive than the 100K plans in any event.

i'll double check, but the business advisor (or whatever they are called) said the warranty is straight from Toyota/Scion and the sheet which we had to sign actually was a form from Toyota

I myself purchased the 6yr/100k Platinum warranty directly from the dealership. As what has been said before, the dealership is *required* to sell you the warranty plans "at cost", or else it will violate the Scion Selling Agreement.

Seriously, adding another $1050 to the loan, to protect you WELL OVER the length of the loan is the smartest thing one can possibly do. I've had a previous bad experience where the warranty failed just when my car broke down, and ended up having to spend even more money. It's a hole you don't want to dig yourself into.

When going to the dealer, and talking with the finance personnel, MAKE SURE they quote you the right prices (which were listed above) for the plan you want, and make 100% sure it's a Toyota Platinum warranty.

I've had one dealership (Don Jacobs, Milwaukee WI) try to tell me that the warranty plan was going to cost me $2,250, which I know was not true. I cancelled my order with them (among other reasons as well), and went to a much better dealership.
