i had the IS300 5spd and the main drawback i had with it was that it wasn't a two door =p. i was thinkgin of getting a 3series at the time but it was just too expensive (10k more than the IS300 for a comparative package). i sold it and now that the tC is coming out, i'm excited to see what fun i can have with it.

I know I had to get rid of my mower...its faster than that thing. Everyone laughed at me when I drove it to work...but I showed them when I slapped a coffee can muffler and gsr and sti stickers on it. But honestly...you cant' beat the tC when it comes to the performance and price factor ratio

what the hell does that mean? you got and buy your camry. keep it hardcore.

i say more power to the tC... and no one's going after the "sci-fi" status anyway, it's just a great car at a great price. but you know those damn ricers are gonna go and mess it up with their nasty-___ body kits and foot-high wings. damn you ricers!

Most people here want an expensive sports sedan/coup. Most people here like Toyotas. The IS300 is toyotas sport sedan. Unfortunately because the IS300 is expensive most of the people here can't afford it. The tC is a inexpensive toyota alternative to expensive sports sedans/coups. Hence the camparisons between the two cars. Both are toyotas, both sit four, both have luxury, and with the tC's s/c they both have similar power BUT, the tC costs 10+ grand less.

Very well said
:D

Btw, you always get more when you pay more.

Very untrue. There are quite a few cars that are overpriced for what you are getting.

people that think they always get more when they pay more are the ones that are easiest to rip off.

Don't mean to burst your bubble, but there are more than a few sub $20K cars that can do 0-60 in less than 7.5sec. Motor Trend did an article a few months ago on the Ford SVT Focus ZX5, Nissan Sentra Spec V, Mitsu Lancer Ralliart, and Subaru Impreza RS. All around or below $20K, all sub 7.5sec. (except the Subaru) And what about the Dodge (Neon) SRT-4?

Not that I would want any of those cars over a tC, but let's not pretend there aren't competitors in its class. You really can't compare the tC to an IS300 because it's simply not a Lexus, and the quality of materials shouldn't be expected to be on par. If it were the case, why would Toyota bother differentiating between its three brands?

I don't see anyone saying it's beating all those cars, rather that it is comparable at a much lower price. Everything's a trade-off.

Jake, I probably shouldn't even reply to that, but since I have the MOTOR TREND article right here in front of me (which I was referring to in my post):

Focus 7.4 / 15.39
Lancer 6.9 / 14.97
Sentra 7.2 / 15.32
Impreza 8.3 / 15.97

I post this information from Motor Trend Jan 2004 so I don't have to argue with any more 16 year olds about the source of my information.
