What I tried to express is that In my opinion the VW's are very ugly looking cars.

Now, it is Ok to be an Ugly car if it is unique. Kind of like the Xb is Ugly. But when you are Ugly and a cop of another ugly car that says a little more(or less) . To me all VW's look the same and are very uninspiring.

But there are pleanty of people in this world and thankfully we don't all like the same things. (Finding your car in a parking lot would be hell)

ever hear the saying that "imitation is the ultimate form of flattery"

so for the Jetta to copy the 3series makes it ugly??

all the new BMWs are starting to convert to the 7series look...???
all the new mercedes are starting to convert to the Sseries look...???
all the new Audis are st... you get my point...

all Ford grilles match after a complete set of bodystyle changes... it is called brand identification... they carry features throughout their lines...

Scion has 3 cars... they mentality is to kill a model line and replace it with a competely different model... this works because they only have 3 models and aren't trying to establish a base clientel... all other brands want to keep their customers, Scion is looking to pass them on to Toyota or Lexus...

but then the headlights on the tC are straight from a 5 series, but the overall look is definitely looking like the SC from Lexus... the rear is Pinafirina... but then so is the Tiburon2... or how about that volvo-esque grille?? the tC isn't breaking any new ground... so what makes it SO different...??

what cars do you like??

car manufacturers are selling to the masses, so styling will always be towards the popular opinion with the rare exception...

Default First Tank

TC had 25 miles on it (my test drive miles) when I purchased the car. Dealer filled the tank. At first fill up for me:

Miles driven: 336
Gallons to fill: 12.4
MPG: 27.09

Driving was about 60/40 highway with either air on or sunroof open, and conservative driving.

actualy higher octane gas is worse for a car with low compression .. that gas needs a high compression to burn effeciantly so alot of it is wasted

I just did my first fill-up today and got 23 mpg on my 5-speed. I'm hoping that will go up a bit as the break in period continues.

update...three weeks ownership, 2,200k miles so far....24-25 mpg hwy, only about 18 in the city. I lost count on what tank of gas I am on. That's with my driving style, hard on the gas off the light, speed limit afterwards. As for the car, is performing beautifully, no problems to report. Trip over and back to Miami was great. Outstanding passing power and torque. Can pass cars on 5th gear with total command and speed to spare--something my old V6 truck lacked. Still waiting on the options to arrive to the dealer, spoiler, carbon fiber trim, front suspension bar.

Need a math expert here, I have 145 miles on the first day, all highway (65 - 75 mph) and the fuel gauge shows 3/4; so, my number is

145m / (14.5g * 1/4) = 40 !!!

Did they put an xA engine??? :D

The numbers depend on the pump - what the fuel gauge shows has a huge error margin. In order to have more or less precise figures you have to have data from 5-10 tanks averaged out, and fill up at the same pump, because "full" can mean 2-3 gallons difference depending on the pump or pump's mood.

232.6 miles driven / 8.977 gallons filled up = 25.91 miles per gallon.
That's from 50% city and 50% freeway.
...price = $2.279 per gallon for 89 octane... and that's the cheapest I could find! Gotta love CA gas prices.

350 miles -> filled the tank with 12 gallons of 87 = 29.17 mpg

This is mostly highway, to and from work.

Over 700 miles on my 5spd and just now hitting the halfway mark on my second tank of gas (including complimentary dealer fillup). I'd have to say that's pretty decent.

i have auto tC drove about 165 miles in the past 2 days, with a full tank of gas (nearly full cuz it stopped at like 21.91 n the attendant pushed it to 22) n now its just below half. i calculated newhere between 21-23 mpg. now this has been with the a/c on almost the whole time because it is hot n humid here in the northeast. and this is both highway n city driving. once skool starts up ill be goin to work n skool so it'll be mostly highway driving so my mpg shud improve, n esp in winter when i dont use the a/c.

I have some where around 2500 miles, which are mostly highway. The best I could come up with was about 29. City, I'm not really sure.

1100 miles, average so far is 25mpg (not approximate, but very accurate). I shift at around 3-3.5K - can probably be a little softer with starts, but why? It's regular gas, I get 3% off with my credit card, and I fill up at BJ's paying $1.60/gal
