After about 5 tanks, I get about 32 on the highway, 28ish everyday mixed 50-50 highway and city. Mine's an auto, and I don't drive like a lunatic, so that helps.

I guess I am the only one getting some crappy mpg! I thought the 1st tank was an anomoly when I got about 18mpg. But just filled up with my second . . .

Miles drvien: 237
Gallons filled: 12.58
Mpg: 18.84

I drive spiritedly but since I am in the "break in" period I have never put the car under full throttle or red line.

Misery loves company . . . anyone else experiencing similar #s?

Lots of stop and go driving? No highway? At what RPM are you shifting?

I drive entirely too fast, and I've been using full throttle since I left the dealer lot, and I'm still getting 23-25 MPG. I'm taking a long trip tomorrow and I expect to see closer to 26-28.

I've gotten about 24mpg on my last tank. I have a 5spd. I do a mix of hwy/city driving. And I am pretty spirited on it when I'm driving city. I haven't babied it for milage at all. Very pleased with the gas milage so far.

I have been keeping the revs up and usually shift at around 5-6k though I am not mashing the throttle. Driving has been about 70% stop and go and 30% highway.

I'll see what the next tank brings. I expect to have more highway mileage on this tank.

You don't need to rev it that high. Try shifting at 3-4k and your mileage should improve.

Agreed . . . still don't think it warrants 18mpg. Once up to speed, I keep it around 3K.

My mpg isn't looking too pretty at the moment. Got the car with 1 mile on it. My first tank I got 18.8 mpg. Second tank I got 19.7. This is mostly city driving in LA so I am not expecting much but I think at least getting close to 21-23 would be nice.
I am still in breakin so I am hoping this will get better. Anyone think my mpg is a red flag and I need to go see the dealer?
Thanks
- Jim

Default First tank of gas - 28.5 MPG

That includes mixed driving - some of it 'spirited' . About 320 miles on the odo when the light came on.

my gas mileage hasnt been the best either.
Ususally I get around 18.5 all city miles. I do have a more or less heavy foot, but even when I go easy, MPG still sux. On the highway though, I got 31 mpg driving at 75mph. Right now Im at 51.3 miles and halfway btwn F and 3/4, all city miles without going past 3000 rpm. Why such a large descrepancy?

By the way mine is an AUTOMATIC.

I do mostly city driving with a few highway miles each tank. I can usually get it to about 315-320 miles before having to fill up, and I calculate my mileage each time I re-fill (I know cuz I'm OCD-ish like that  )- works out to about 24 or 25 mpg consistently. I've had the car since July 6th and have 4100 miles on it, and it's a 5spd manual.

Hope that helps!

i have an auto tC .. getting 25 mpg, 27 mpg, 26.5 mpg.. then dipped down to 22 mpg.. didn't change driving habits.. i think it's when i got the steering wheel straightened dealer set the toe-in to MAX.. not a good thing for fuel economy! So I will be getting that fixed.. and get back to better mpg's..

23.75mpg that is if you ran out of gas. If not then its not empty .

A side note. The guys getting less then 20mpg what is the deal? What do you call spirted driving? The way I view it could be way different then you do, because you might do spirted driving in my book. Good tips for gas milage. Make sure the PSI in all the tires are up to what they should be. Use good gas. Drive like a grandma. I just filled up my Corsica tank today & pulled 29mpg with my 3.1L V6. That milage made me go because I thought it would be less. I average 28.xxmpg but that less tank I did I had spirted driving. 4 0-60 WOT runs. My car holds first gear up to 45mph :? so you know it takes some gas. Another thing to look at is keep the rpms down. If it is not needed shift at 2,000rpm. If you need more speed take it up to 2500-3000. Use 5th gear. On one forum I was a part of in the past some guy complained about his milage & it was because he never used 5th gear. So he was doing 65+ on 4th gear :?.

I am somewhat heavy on the gas, I don't race around but I drive modestly quick. I am averaging a 13.5 gallon fill up at the pump with 280 - 300 miles on the tank. I drive on the freeways too, usually around 90, so I am up there in the rpm band quite often. I figure I am getting right around 22mpg. So it seems there mpg clain is acurate because I am sure that if I were to drive slow I would get much better mileage.

Mine's a manual.
I got 230 miles out of my first 3/4 tank (free from the dealer).
It took 12 gallons for the first refill (=19.17 mpg), not too good.
About 30 miles was freeway, the rest city and most of that on hills.
Also, the weather here during that time was hot (85-90).
The car only had 6 miles on it when I got it so that shouldn't account for much fuel unless they were racing it.

In the last two weeks since my fill up I've only driven about 80 miles and it's down to the 3/4 mark already. At the rate I'm using it, I won't reach the 1000 mile mark until early December and it doesn't look like I'll turn 5000 within a year. I don't drive much but when I do, I tend to lead foot it.

Maybe I should have got a Trek.

I'm down to a 1/4 of a tank and I only have around 180miles, it's my first tank, and I got the car with 1 mile on it. I've been keeping it under 4 thousand RPM due to the break in, but I've still been driving pretty spirited with it, still doesnt make sense as to why I would get such crap gas mileage tho. 100% of it has been city driving with AC on 1/2 the time.
