What do you dislike about your tC?
The reason it seems bad for RWD is because it was designed for FWD.. it doesnt make sense to say that it would suck as RWD because of suspension and handling, because all of that would have to be changed to make it RWD. FWD CAUSES a lot of the poor weight distribution.
The reason you dont see civics, integras, etc as RWD is because they fall in that category of cars that really cant afford much more driveline loss without needing more power. Again, that is main reason for using FWD. Other than it being easier to drive, especially for all of those that grew up on FWD cars.
If you managed to cram in a longitudinal mounted engine with a standard bell-housing mounted to a tranny, you would start shifting the weight to the rear more. Add the diff and rear axle assembly in the rear and you push more weight back that direction, starting to correct the poor weight distribution a bit. My guess is that you would be closer to 55/45 if you laid it out right.
Next, you would use a little bit different spring and shock setup due to changes in the cars distribution. But, the main thing is that you would need more power.
I am pretty sure no one wanted Scion to use the current platform and try to chop shop a rwd set up in it, of course other aspects would be changed.
But again, "sporty coupes" are in no way NEAR sports cars. They are run of the mill cars that are in-expensive (relatively) and make the most out of a small engine by running a lower loss FWD system that is easy to drive. They werent meant to be sports cars at all. But the design of the car not lending towards a RWD is 100% because it was designed for FWD to start with. A civic was NEVER meant to be a fast car, but people started building them because younger people could afford to build them. The car wasnt designed with that in mind to start with. Keeping with that tradition of lower powered engines, moderate performance and making it economical is what keeps them making them. Give me 250whp NA in a V8 rwd car against any 250 whp boosted fwd car anyday.. the first is just a better platform for it. But, how many 20 year olds can afford the latter, since most are much more expensive to start with?
But dont get me wrong, I like the tC the way it is, and am also all for modifying the hell out of it. But for me it will be a fun street car with boost eventually that I may take to the track every now and then. If I want a serious track car with 400whp, it WILL be rwd and have more than 4 cylinders

i see on paper that the new civic has more ground clearance than the tC, but in real life it really looks like the civic is lower.
maybe the tC is higher but it has something that sticks out at the bottom giving it a lower ground clearance b/c of that part?

that's what I was trying to say about the wheel gap making it look higher. ground clearance is measured in the middle, not from the rocker panel.
and I thought of a new dislike... when I use the windshield washer while driving, it always runs off the side of my windshield and across my driver's window. if I had my window down, all that dirty washer fluid would probably hit me! I don't know how Toyota messed that up.

windsheild cleaning fluid hitting your face?
that problem is actually pretty common. my friend with a eclipse complains about that issue as well. but i don't see a big problem with it since i can just roll the window up. plus i hardly ever use the wiper fluid b/c i don't want that stuff to get on my paint. i keep my car pretty clean inside out.

yeah, I definitely know to roll up my window. luckily I noticed the problem when my window was up, so I never actually got hit at least. doesn't seem like it would've been hard for Toyota to correct though.
That is just the nature of cars. Every car I have owned had a similar situation with the washer. They could have probably designed around it buy changing the shape of the car or adding a lip.. but I will take less wind noise and a better shape design over issue with my windshield washer any day
Just roll the window up.
Just roll the window up.

well I believe there already is a little channel up the side of the windshield that I assume is for guiding water up the side without running over the edge, but I guess it's just not big enough. I know my crx had that anyway, but it didn't have that problem. either way, nothing would be changed 'extensively', and it wouldn't even have to be noticeable appearance-wise either. I can only maybe see an issue with wind noise.
LOL! but that reminds me of the time I got the inside of my car washed right after I got it. I was over at the gas station using the automatic car wash (brushless, of course). The damn machine wasn't taking bills because it was full, so I had to go inside the inconvenience store to buy my "automatic" car wash.
I guess for that reason I was a little irked already so my mind wasn't quite 'with it', but I punched my code in the machine and I started rolling into the carwash. now, you all know how you have to put your front wheel in the stop before the actual wash starts, well I was completely forgetting about the rocker panel blaster/wheel cleaner that shoots out from the sides on your way in!
*just* as I started reaching for the window switch on my way in, the blasters kicked on and sprayed water all over my dash, all over my door, all over my clothes, and right in my face!!!
for the rest of the car wash, I had to try and clean up as much water as I could with about 4 little napkins I happened to have in my armrest, but once they got soggy, they just shredded on the black felt-like material around the window making an even bigger mess.
luckily the water wasn't soapy, and somehow it didn't leave a single spot on my upholstry.
but believe me, I won't be forgetting about that again!!

hi guys, just got my tC last Sunday and I've noticed it wasn't like what i thoght.
- ABS brakes: seems a little lest responsive than the 04 Civic which I used to have.
- BLIND SPOTS: man, it really sucks when i try to back up the car and don't know when i will get hit.
- Seatbelt: hard to reach
_ The stock stereo: on the bumpy road, i can hear the noise coming out from the inside.
_ Keyless: doesnt have a horn sound when i press the unlock button 2 times.
Thats just it so far.

and someone also misquoted/edited my post as well. What the heck are $hitcakes? i said Tastycakes.
1) The Alcantara seats my RS 2.0 came with. I have to vacuum them on a daily basis because they show EVERYTHING. Even tiny specs.
2) How you have to press the sunroof button twice for it to open all the way.
3) No hatch release.
4) The brake pads the car comes with... Leaves so much brake dust, you have to clean it daily or else it will stain the rims with due time.
5) How much of a hassle it is to switch around songs on the iPod. Either going playlist to playlist or artist to playlist, etc. I honestly have to wait for a red light to change it! Problem is, routes I take have few red lights!
Other than all that, the car's great!
