What do you dislike about your tC?
Its not a sports car, neither are ANY of its FWD competitors. It does damned good for a 4 banger FWD. So dont be discouraged about it. If you gave some of the kids 200 hp, they would just gripe cause it didnt have 250 and cost the same price

the TC is a nice car and i am happy with it. a lot of the things i sorta dislike about the car i already knew i bought mine. but i bought it anyways cause i like the car.
but do liek the above poster says, test drive one, and do what u feel from there. but in the price range, i think its a great buy.

I personally am very picky, and there are obviously things that could be improved on (the paint being my biggest "pet peeve", since I've had the car barely over a month and have a good number of rock chips, even on the hood). The car has many redeeming qualities though, especially in it's price range.
The only issues I have with the car are mainly cosmetic, I have no complaints thus far mechanically (although I only have less than 1,400 miles on it so far).
No car is perfect, so how ideal a certain car is for you differs from person to person. My best advice is to shop around at different cars in the price range, see what you like and dislike, do plenty of research and make an informed decision as an educated consumer.
Whatever you decide to get, take care of it; and that little extra time or restraint invested should pay off in the long run.
i do agree about the fabric being a bit harsh on the skin. i mentioned this b4, it looks ok, but it's a _____ to clean, stains when wet (even from water), and it's like sand paper to the skin. it actually makes the cabin almost uncomfortable. i'm conscience about resting my elbow on the arm rest b/c it dirties it so easily...
i agree that some ppl's dislike about the tC is unreasonable. thing like wanting the tc to be rwd and 200 hp or something doesn't belong.
i haven't had any problems with paint yet, i've got over 3k miles and over 3 months of ownership. major complaint is the notorious rattles comming from the cabin and roof. but i don't seem to notice it much anymore...

wow, until i went thru this thread i never noticed half the stuff... maybe its cuz mine is an rs 2.0? i actually didnt test drive the car... but it was comfy to sit in and i did go thru it while it was on the showroom floor. I dont get the weird noises, no engine whistles, no paint problems yet (knock on wood) and i had the interior clearcoated and added seat covers inside. my last ride was an 87 voyager that had nice clear plastic all over the floors and the seats/fabric was scotchguarded. i try to take care of my things.
the car is supposed to "learn" and adapt to ur driving, so i dont feel the car being too soft or hard and i dont think the car is too loud. yes i can hear the road on occasion and i like the option of adding edead to quiet the ride. toyota focuses on having a quiet enjoyable ride, and i find the scion does the job well.
yeah i didnt like the cubby hole brightness so i swapped it out with all the other lights...
i do find it funny how i can change the colors on the headunit but not anything else, the dash/hvac should change as well... that would be cool...
i do find the door to be a bit too high for hte seat... hard to put my arm out the window or see who im talking to on the passenger side...
i dont like the low gas mileage...
i think some of my passengers complain about the rear middle seat... but i tell them to call shotgun earlier...
(altho if u lay the front seats al lthe way down, its pretty comfy sitting backwards in the passenger side...)
i wish it was awd... (if its better for snow driving)
i wish the rear moonroof tilted up just a little...
i wish it had a telescopic steering wheel and auto seat controls...
i wish it came with the Tcover... auto hu cover...
i wish it had more/better spoiler options...
i wish it had an ipod holder inside the middle box...
i wish the headunit displayed other languages... ie chinese, japanese, korean, etc... mainly from the ipod...
while im wishing... i wish it had remote start, remote windows, remote moonroof, remote lights, remote vertical doors, and remote auto rear hatch lift... and a remote girl to go with it

all this wishing just means i can fix it myself
part of the appeal of the car was the ability to customize it to my tastes and distinguish my ride. not everyone wants to do that and this car isnt for everyone. my dad would find this car too weak. my mom says its quieter than her acura tsx and more comfy, but doesnt drive well. my bro likes the feel/drive of his civic better. this car is perfect for me who likes to take stock things and add things to make it better...
but i still like the car. as my first car, its great. there are lots of things i wish it had, but im satisfied with what it is. i do feel its better than my moms acura tsx which cost almost twice as much. all in all, i take the cons with the pros and figure out how to negate the cons or reduce them... or live with/around them...
but ive only had it for a month... give me 6months and we'll see if anything really bad comes up... course, by then it probably wont be the same car...

The "fake" stitching around the steering wheel really BUGS...NO Hatch release from the inside...I hate that I Curb Checked my wheel already & got a chip on my windshield and Hood!
i hate that no mod is legal for the tc except the s/c. i fink toyota monopolized the tuning portion to the tc when they designed the emission components. they knew what they was doin. basically forcing u to buy s/c if u want more performance from ur tc. that sux!

improve the handling, the weight, the engine, the VOLUME CONTROL, the overall finish on the body, interior dba noise level.

It is 16k because it satisfies a market niche, and it satisfies it quite well. If you want a mid 20k car, look elsewhere because you will have plenty of options since that niche is well populated.
amen. if the tC was a mid 20k car, I wouldn't be able to own one. and I imagine that would be true for a surprising number of people on this board. furthermore, if I had $25k to spend on a car, it probably wouldn't be a tC.

...and did you even read the thread? the hatch release thing has been covered. it's called the "unlock button".
The thing i hat is the damn creak and rattle from the hatch, i took it in and they tried 2 times to fix it but to no avail, still rattles. Also the damn seat stains, and no its not sex stains. its rain water and sweat.
