i know this is the tC owners lounge but im reading some of these stories and some of them are flat out crazy! scratching center consoles, trying to void warranties, installing wrong parts or not installing them at all is just laziness. sorry you guys had to go thru mess like that

ok, here are my STORIES.
1st- I bought a 2004 BSP xB back in may '04. That was when they had first hit the east coast, and not many people knew about them. Well they shoved us over to this new guy, cause no one wanted to touch scions at the time, and he was great, very honest, nice and polite. I pretty much knew everythig about the car already so I was already sold. Well when we went to pick up the xB we got in and there was no h/u, just a big peice of cardboard. So it taks them 2 hours to pop in a friggin h/u, that's after the sales guy goes back there and makes them do it

2nd- just over 5 months after we had the xB, it was in an accident, hit by a deer. The left fornt was messed up but nothin to bad, mainly fixing gaps and plastic parts. Ok, well i was 16 at the time, and i didnt not know as much as I do now, but i still knew quite a bit about cars, but anyways. We take it to the dealer, thinking, "who else would know how to better fix it?" Well first attempt to fix it, gaps all over messed up, hood, fenders, door jams. So i tell them and they say ok we will try and fix it, after a little arguing, but then i notice lots of chips on the hood, there was not one chip on the hood before the accident, not one, it was mainly garage kept, only had a couple thousand miles on it. Well they refused to fix it, flat out refused. I argued to the death about it, even showed pictures, well they fi nally decided to use "touch up paint", not repaint the hood, "touch up paint" so i settled

3rd- this is their second attempt to fix it, well it was better but still way, way off, and the "body shope manager" kept telling me that it was factory and i argued and argued, then he had the ***** to ask me, "do you k now what it takes to fix body panels and do body work" and said yes. And then continued into explaining it to him, well he cut me off, and my folks talked him into trying again. I actually walked away, because i swear i would have decked him, and i am not a violent person until i extremely have to be.

4th- this is their 3rd attempt to fix such minor blemishes, well it still looks like sh*t, but i take it anyway, beacuse it was only bound to get worse and harder for me to get them to try. 3!! attempts to fix such minor stuff.
* i was rear ended 2 weeks after getting it "fixed" so we took it back and they "fixed" it and we traded it for the RS2.0

5th- this is now into a couple months ago
well my pops took it in for an oil change while I was at school, an oil change is supposed to be $24.95, well they charged him, over $100, and I flipped a sh*t. They charged for som "pvc" sh*t and then had the gaul to charge $40for replacing the air filter, I have an Injen SRI, but and get this, they actually put on the sheet "cannot replace air filter with k&n cold air intake"
THY WROTE THAT DOWN AND STILL CHARGED ME FOR IT!!
well we go back and get our money back for the filter but they insisted on the "pvc" thing, so i dropped it

6th- ok now this is where you might get a chuckle
my pops takes it in again, and they rotated my tires with oil cahnge, and then said in only had, less than 10% of my brake pads left, the xB is less than a year old, and i baby the brakes, cause new pads are expensive. and then the tell this to my folks "you need to replace the tires soon, but they will cost extra, because they are raci ng tires" FRIGGIN RACING TIRES!! these damn things squel when i take corners at over 40.

well i am leaving the name of the dealership out because my pops is clse to the higher ups there

In the course of not fixing my hatch rattle the dealer put a huge gash in the back seat.

They did replace the entire seat cushion the next day with no questions asked or problems, so I can't complain too much.

Here is my story. It's also posted in the Desert and salt region.
So I just got my 15,000 mile service done on Thursday. About 30 miles later my Low Tire Pressure light came on. I didn't think much of it because every time I get work done there they forget to reset it. So I get home and do the whole reset thing. And I noticed the light didn't blink 3 times like it should. So I thought that was kinda weird. And of corse 30 miles later the light comes on again. So I thought maybe I reset it wrong. Anyways, it kept coming back on. So I stopped by CB Scion today and wile I was there I had them look at it. They came back and told me that every single tire had only 22 P.S.I. in it when it needs to have 32 P.S.I! (29 Rear) So for this to happen the people at Avondale would have to let air OUT of the tires to get them down that low! Obviously the tires were critically low on air. I had be driving back and forth to Tempe from Surprise the last few days. Scary thought that I have been going 65+ down the freeway in the Phoenix heat where my tires could have blown at any time with my 2 year old son and I in the car.

And the update
I talked to the service director today. He told me he will check to see if their tools are "calibrated" right. Also when I was on their web site today looking for their phone number I came across the pure pricing for maitenence. I found out it only should have cost me 80 dollars for the service and I was charged 160 dollars! So he said he would credit me for the difference. This was after he tried to say the TC service is more expensive because they replace the in-cabin filter, and I informed him that their is no filter for the TC because it will make the AC over heat. Which he all of a sudden remembered after I told him that. Amazing!!

No, the service director was going to call me back two days ago, but never has. I have tried to contact him many more times with no answer. So today I got Scion corporate involved. They are not happy about the situation at all. They opened up a case and assured me I would be receiving a refund shortly.

All the Toyota Dealers around Dallas Tx, suck. Some more than others, just depends on the owner and the managers. I've learned to just do everything myself and stay far far away from the dealerships.I think Toyota has a big problem with their dealerships. The need to get a handle on things and make things right. They make great cars, now they need to have great service!

you can put a cabin filter in the tC, but it is not required. and it will not burn up anything.

It can If you use the wrong type. It could restrict the air flow to much. That's why Toyota has no part number for the TC.

What's the button to press and hold and it ask you to change the car type? to xA, xB, or tC?
Also does anyone know if the xB rs3.0 headunit has a similar button?
