Default Cheapest Performance Tires!

Im getting ready to do autocross and Ive noticed my stock wheels SUCK! I seriously think these are the worst tires ever. Now Im looking to upgrade and Ive looked into the falken rt-615 but there a bit pricey.... anybody know any other tire that will compete just as good for a lower price?

That is probably as good as it gets for a streetable tire. I have the Hankook RS-2 on for autox in the rain and street tires, very impressed overall. Not the stickiest but close and easy to control if you over do it a bit

We will have full slicks for dry days next season.

See if you can dig up a copy of last Augusts "Grassroots MotorsSports" and check out the Autocross tire test;)

The Hankook placed 4th out of 6 tires, not so great sounding but it really worked pretty well. The others above it all cost alot more.

BUT the Azenis RT215, discontinued, placed 2nd and if you can find them, the lowest cost as well

I have a guy locally in southern california that does tires. He has great prices and installs and mount and balances with prices that blows away tire company, big g tires etc.. so if you are in so cali just PM me if you need tires. I'll give you his info.

#1 RT-615
#2 RT-215
#3 Yokohama Advan Neova
#4 RS-2, Z212 Hankook
#5 Kumho Exta MX
#6 BFG g-force T/A KD

The Neova and Hankook look almost identical except one more rain groove in the Hankook, interesting.

I am considering selling my Hankooks and getting Goodyear F1 GS-D3 as they are better in the rain so would make a better street tire where we are now located and beter wet day autocross tire.

I do like the Hankooks really well though, easy to drive very fast on and forgiving when overcooking it a bit, great recovery.

Car and Driver, December 05, has a great performance tire test but not done as specifically for autocross, more of just a street tire test.

The goodyear placed fith in their more limited version of an autocross test in the dry and first in the wet. Skidpad test had them in a three way tie for second place in the dry and only one tire even close to them in the wet.

The overall performance scores had the Goodyear placed 1st in the wet out of 11 tires and 4th in the dry test.

The RTs were not tested but would of easily been the fastest dry tires in everything and probably mid pack in this group in the wet at best if even that high.

I have Goodyear eagle f-1 gs-d3 and they rule. night and day difference. On tire rack they have some of the highest performance ratings and they are one of the lowest priced. I love them to death. they are great on the street but i haven't been able to test them on the track yet, so sorry no help there. However for spirited driving, they are great.

I have a set of Nero M&S 18s and they are pretty nice. My 06 TC came with Yoko's,... not sure of the model. They are also working very well so far in the rain and dry, MUCH better then those POS Bridgestones that came stock on my 05.
