this is what i got from HIDextra:

Hello,

Please note CANBUS HID kit are not only design for vehicle with CANBUS computer system, it is also the quality that is carry. CANBUS is mainly use for vehicle with CANBUS computer system mostly high end vehicles, however even if your vehicle does not require the CANBUS HID kit you can still use it because of the high quality it carries which are guarantee to last longer than all the other HID kit we carry in stock and also the color of the HID bulb.

Please let us know if you have any other questions or concern.

HIDeXtra

so i can use it no problem. it will still work just as it should..

that is the most poorly written and completely false bit of information i have ever seen about HIDs.

EDIT: to elaborate:
- CANBUS has nothing to do with the "quality" of the kit or the color of the bulb
- CANBUS has nothing to do with how long the kit will last

and for the $120 you spent on this garbage chinese kit, you could have just spent $150 on a Morimoto system that blows any of the bargain brands away.

Picture may not be doing justice. Purple stripe across the top. Clearly purple on walls and vehicles in front of me.

I like it. Just thought 6k was white/ hint of blue.

Well I'm shipping the kit back to HID Extra. I think I may try to have them send me a 55w kit with relay harness. I also bought some 4500K bulbs from DDM. If between the two I still can't get light that I like, I'll buy some good halogen bulbs and call it a day.

i find many people dont know what they are doing when getting hids 35w kits are basic kits mainly made for cheap people the output of the stock bulbs are 55w so if you want to get the same brightness out of them you will need at least 55w hid kit... also 5000-8000k bulbs are natural light which means you wont get the change in color you would expect that make most bulbs better for seeing in the rain... going to a higher kelvin rating will actually decrease the light output therefore for best results get a 55w kit or at least whatever your stock bulbs are rated in our case 55w and go with a colored bulb like 3000k for best results or something much higher like 12000k (purple) or 32000k (green) bulbs

the only color that is natural light is 4300k-5000k. anything higher is not going to be considered natural light.

and 35w kits will absolutely be brighter than stock 55w halogens. just about all OEM HID setups found in higher-end cars are 35w. yes, i did choose 55w HID for my low beams, but the 35w HID setup i have for my fogs is twice as bright as the stock 55w fogs.

35 watt HIDs put out more light than 55 watt halogens, Steve is correct.

The concept is simple. The amount of watts that a light bulb uses does NOT equal the amount of light output. You already know this, or should know it, because e.g. a 50 watt fluorescent bulb is MUCH brighter than 100 watt incandescent bulb. An HID can do much more with a watt of electricity than a burning filament can. Extrapolate.

i apologize, but its kinda hard to understand what your trying to say in this post. Everything you said is the complete opposite of what i've read and the consensus on this site. 35w HID will always be brighter than 55w halogen and the purest, brightest light is between 4500-5000. you will never get the "best results" with 12000k + in terms of visibility.

but i'm dont quite understand what your saying. so a 55w 32000k would give me the best visibility during rainy conditions?

No, a 55 watt 4500k to 5000k will give you the best visibility in the rain. Once you go higher than that the light becomes more of a blue color and blue light waves don't travel as far as white light waves (blue is absorbed more than white) so the higher up you go in kelvins the less usable light your lights output.
If you want the best light output you should look for a temperature that is closest to pure white. Less than 4500k is yellowish and more than 5000k starts to turn blue. Hope I could help.

Ok here's all you need to know. I could sit here all day and talk about the science behind HID's, but don't make it more complicated than it needs to be.

Stock bulbs are 55W halogens.

35W HID's >> 55W Halogens. Any HID you get (unless it's crap) will be brighter than halogens.

55W HID's are SLIGHTLY brighter than 35W.

You do not need a relay for 55W HID's.

The Higher you go in KELVIN (Temperature) the less light output there will be. (with the exception of 3000K) For explaination purposes, 3000K = 6500K.

So basically, 4300K is the brightest, then the higher you go the less light you will get.

Keep in mind the color changes as the kelvin changes. Xenon gas has color changing properties that vary in different enviroments.

^^^^ WRONG to the post who says 3000K = 6500K, not even close. wtf?

3000K is just yellow. You just see it easier than blue on black or purple on black.

4300K-5000K PNP kits work fine until..... you get talking about light INTENSITY... then.... you'll have to step it up to OEM quality.
