now for the fun part. mounting the ballast.

since i have slims, i didn't wedge the ballast into the side gutter, nor did i use double sided tap or any tape at all.

I USED ZIP TIES. we'll see if my ballast will dislodge, but i'm pretty confident.

Driver side

passenger side

what you dont see in the photo is, i made a vertical and horizontal harness (not an electrical harness) wrapped around my ballast. the vertical is meant to hold down the horizontal, and the horizontal is holding down the zip tie wrapped around the gap. redundancies were created to prevent a single failed zip tie from letting loose the ballast in my engine bay.

i zipped tied the bundle of wires into a single bundle

unfortunately there were casualties. 20 zip ties lost their lives during the installation of these HIDs *salute*

i did this in the morning, so i didnt take any photos of the 35w 6000k HIDs, maybe later tonight or something

many thanks to the advise from biglilsteve and seeing kidjustin's set up and this thread!

opps, i dindt realize my VIN was in the photos let me edit them out and repost them
going to do that to, mine are coming tomorrow cant wait, it looks so much easier and cleaner doing it that way

Ok, quick question for you guys. I've got the DDM Tuning Raptor 55w 6000k HID's in my tC. I've had them in for almost a year now, and I've got some problems. When I first turn on the headlight's, the driver side HID comes on immediately, but the passenger side ballast makes a loud buzz and the light doesn't come on. I have to repeatedly turn the lights on and off until the passenger side finally decides to come on. Also, I've noticed that my passenger side high-beam bulb and parking light bulb do not burn nearly as bright as the driver side.

Would this have something to do with me not installing a relay harness along with the HID's? I dunno, it's starting to ____ me off lol

Check connection to the passenger side ballast.

You installing a relay harness should have not effected the parking lights.

alright guys i have a question if anyone else has expirenced this.
i have a set of DDM slims that i have had for almost 5 years now and have had this same set up ballast in and bulbs in 3 different cars but i recently when ahead and moved that ballast to my fog lights on my tC and went and ordered a set of 55watt slim ballast for my low beams. it seems every time i get in the car and start it the fogs come on automatically no problem but when i turn my light on my low beams will ignite like they wanna come on and go right back off. i had my low beams hooked up to a relay for awhile and same issues and now i have them plugged into the OEM harness and same issues. not sure what the deal is but sometimes maybe only one light will ignite and sometimes none but never both ignite fully and im not sure if maybe with my foglights warming up if the 55watt ballast are pulling to much power or what.
only does it when the ballast are cold and tomorrow im gonna try and ignite my low beams with my fogs turned off and see if the problem is still there..

but in the meantime thats what it looks like for now.

So I just got 55w 8000k hids for my low beams and 55w 10000k hids for my fog lights. I installed them last week and yesterday my fog lights decided to not work anymore. Im not using a relay harness and my low beams turn on every time. I have tried turning my lights off and on again and get nothing from my fogs, not even a flicker. Any ideas?

Try the bulbs with your other ballast and see if they light up then you would know if it's the ballast or not also looking inside the hid bulb look to see if there's any signs of them blowing like black spots and I've not used a relay harness for over 3 years on my HID no worries

I found out that the place that installed my hids installed them with 2 45w ballasts instead of the 4 55w ballasts that came with the sets. I think that's why my fog lights aren't working.

just so everyone knows, if you are going to order from ddm tunning, might wana reconsider.

pretty high chance your hids will be shipped from china making shipping cost alot plus the wait time on it.

i was under the impression that they were going to ship it from one of the three ca warehouses but guess not.

after researching, seems like other people have to wait like me for a while.

oh wells. happy thanks giving all.

So awhile back i opted to get rid of my 35watt hids and jump to the 55watt 6000k from ddm tuning. I also made the choice that i didn't want my ballasts in the engine bay so i removed the bumper and mounted them behind it. Since i was going with 55watt i also purchased a relay a harness for the highs and lows. As for my fog lights i went with 35watt 3000k hids.

Here is a couple of shots with the bumper removed

I also purchased fog lights and hids to go with them, I went with the 35watt 3000k from ddm tuning. Here is where i mounted this ballast for the fogs
