Default Replace Daytime Running Lights..

Anybody replaced these ugly lights that are on when my lights are off. I'm not somebody who cares about looks a ton unless it has some kind of performance enhancement too but I can't stand these ugly orange bulbs.

I'm not sure if it functions as a signal light as well but it is on constant when my headlights are not turned on. I am not signaling in the picture that is just how it stays on constant during daytime or when lights are off. Hence why I called it my daytime running light.

I've been wanting to look into the wiring for those. they function as DRL's in Canada, signals and hazards. Been meaning to take my test light to the 19pin relay. I'm sure you can disable them by removing one or two wires. I think I'll make that my project for today.

So poked around with my test light today and if you bridge power to the small red wire on the big blue Canadian signal relay (as it would normally if you turn on your lights) they will stay off.

Problem is, there is no easly accessible "on only" power. There is an always powered 12v source to the relay for the unlock conformation blinks from the signal lights. Big green wire is constant 12v power.

If anyone could send me a detailed picture of the wires going into the older style relay, I will see if I can figure out a way to wire the old style relay into the 2014's that have this new one.

They are also your signals and hazards, most places don't allow much except amber for front signals, so your sol. However you could disable them and you still have your lower bumper LED's and the little round ones next to the signals.

Hey Hoodeddutchman, I replaced them on my car, was very simple, and inexpensive here's a link for you 2014 Scion tC City Light LEDs (pair) - tC - Scion - Bulbs By Vehicle - Lighting

That's not the bulb I'm talking about. When my car is running and light switch is in off position my signal bulb is solid on all the time except when it's signaling. The bulb you linked is only on when the switch is in any other position but off.

I'm guessing this would be the one:

https://www.diodedynamics.com/front-...n-tc-pair.html

Only comes in Amber though so it must be illegal to have a turn signal be a different color. Maybe I'll just change the illumination bulbs to led and then switch to middle position while driving during the day.

Hey bro what you need to look into are switch back led turn signals, they stay white while driving, and then once you signal one of the lights turn amber, then switches back to white.

Try it, the middle switch does not disable the running lights, only when the lights are fully on. switch backs might work though. The way the relay works might not work with switch back bulbs as the bulbs are single filament. I could be wrong but I don't think they will work in the 2014, al least not without some interesting wiring.
