^^^No, most, if not all, TWM's ***** have a version compatible with the shift lock. I broke down and bought the M1 Abrams ****. Given the shape and height, I decided that was the best one for me. Only negative buying that specific **** is now it looks like I'm copying 1stOne! :?

1stOne: As always, a great review. Did TWM give you any sort of indication as to when they might start shipping them?

So the designated 'RL' shift ***** are not necessary for our Scion tC's? Which exact model do you have?

I don't have any **** yet. I ordered the M1 Abrams in Gun Metal. Notice it says "shift lock compatible" above the name.

Hi Donald,

The shift boot does not need any modification to fit with the short shifter.

I don't believe the cable bushings are installed in this car. The result of the bushings can't be seen on pictures, it gives more precision and a more solid feeling to the shifter.

I believe he has the M1 Abrams RL in the satin finish in his car. You actually need a reverse lockout compatible shift **** for the 2011 tC, installed on the stock shifter or on the TWM short shifter!

Thanks,

Frank

Your not copying me, you picked a different colour! Copy all you want though. I'm loving all the goodies available for these cars and more so the opportunity to pass on experience with them to fellow members here.

Regarding installation of this though, there are no modifications needed to your stock stuff with exception of the one cut you have to make. And by "cut" I mean remove a small push nut which TWM replaces in their kit. The car can be reverted 100% back to stock with ease.

No, this car does not have the base bushings installed but from my experience with them in other vehicles, they improve the feel even more!

I've actually got a set for my car that when it returns from the body shop, I will be installing and giving another review!

Hey Donald,

I replied above but just in the event you missed them and to better help others, I'll cover them again.

First off, no you do not need to modify the factory shift boot. Everything converts over to the new without issue.

This review was done without the cable bushings installed, only the shifter itself. While it is night and day over stock, the cable bushings (from experience) do add quite a bit to the overall feel of things. I highly suggest them if you are looking for a massive improvement in shifter feel and longevity.

While this show car does not have a TWM shift ****, I do in my car. I have the M1 Abrams in Satin finish and it compliments the interior extremely well. I've had it in since November and have plenty of gear changes on it and it is holding up better than expected.

If your looking to get a RL shift ****, check out the following:
http://www.twmshiftknobs.com/shiftkn...011%20and%20up

The reverse lock on the TWM short shifter is smaller than stock, so you can actually use any TMW shifter with the RL feature on it. If however you opt to keep using the stock shifter, you will need the shift **** linked above as the diameter of the RL is larger on the stock shifter (about 1.2" or so). Ultimately, if your unsure, get the shift **** for use with the stock shifter as it will work with what ever short shifter you get down the road.

Hope that helps.

^That's for the guys at TWM to say. From my end, all was good. No issues.

Shouldn't be long now!

I know that the weighted feel of the shift ***** they sell are designed to give it a better feel, but I am having a hard time justifying me spending 120 bucks on a shift ****. Any comments to change my mind? All input welcome.

I'm of the same feeling. Buy one with the short shifter and they give a pretty hefty discount so I broke down and bought one. The kind folks at TWM had mercy on me and agreed to ship the shift **** and shifter cable bushings separate from the short shifter. UPS website says I should get them tomorrow. I will try out the **** by itself, then the bushings by themselves and finally together. I'll let you know.

Glad to have you back posting.

Quality, precision, and weight.

I'm a big Razo fan when it comes to shift *****, but this it far superior to what you get from other aftermarket. Every part is aluminum, so no little plastic pieces that can break. And, thanks to my awesome measuring skills (haha), the RL on the TWM is perfect. It feels SOOOOO much better with it installed plus it gives a nice touch to the interior design.

Plus, you can get the shift pattern laser inscribed into the ****, which no other brand I've found does.

Maybe the guys at TWM will do some special limited editions with "SCION" laser inscribed into them????

Thanks to TWM and 1stOne's helpful replies, I'm about to place my order on the TWM short shifter, but I had a quick question about the shift *****. I was going to order a Satin M1 RL shift **** along with the short shifter, but I was wondering if there was a way to get a custom engraving on the shift ****, or perhaps nothing on the shift ****.

^They will engrave the shift pattern into it if you'd like. What other engraving were you thinking of?

The options are no engraving at all on the M1 shift **** or the shift pattern. We currently do not offer custom engraving as all our engraving is CNC milled and the drawings and programming time are very expensive for this type of machining. It's also the best way to engrave on stainless steel!

Ok, sounds reasonable. I imagine machining on a spherical part isn't the easiest to create a CAM file for. Do you guys do the milling/engraving in-house?

EDIT: Is the installation manual not uploaded onto the website yet or is it not linked properly?

^ in addition to the other question, is the $5 tube of grease going to be necessary for the short shifter install?

You do need grease for the installation, if you have some all purpose automotive grease at home you can use it, but if you don't that's why we offer the optional tube of grease, it's just the correct quantity you need for such an install!
