Took my tc in for it's 5k service on June 8 (currently at 6k miles) and I was skeptical on whether to bring up the HU issue because I didn't want to deal with the nonsense. But it turned out the guy who was there already knew about the problem because his daughter has a tc2 as well. So they filled a ticket and ordered one. They said it would take a while to get here though.

EDIT

Ok so I am not happy with scion so far. So Apparently There is only one sub in the 2011 scion TC and it is in the drivers door. So when you put the alpine head unit into TC mode the base thumps the s**t out of the drivers door and makes it rattle and thats all you get. Whos stupid idea was that? I guess the same person who decided on only one reverse light. So anyway I guess since I feel that the TC mode just overpowers the hell out of the sub Im gonna leave it in XD mode for the time being. STUPID SCION PEOPLE.
topher,
Your dealer is WRONG. The '11 Scion tC has no subs and 2 woofers (1 in each door). The "woofers" are actually just 6x9 speakers, but when the Alpine HU works as it should, both do low tones equally and you won't have the problem you mentioned.

If you pull off the door panels, you can see both doors have the exact same speaker set-up. You can either go back to the dealer and have them show you, in an official document, that the left speaker is supposed to be the only one to play low notes or you can go to Scion Corporate. Tell Corporate the problem, what dealer you went to, who you talked to, etc and ask them for help. It's what I had to do and it was very effective.

Hope this helps.

Mighty you are a good man.

I called Scion and they said low and behold there is a case open on this issue and she said she would call the dealership and tell them about the fixes for this issue then call me back.

If you go to Scion's website, you can either IM someone or get the number to call. Both ways seem to be effective. And if someone ever sees something about the issue in writing, please post it. Dealers are finally beginning to realize the problem, but there has been a very close hold on the official documentation.

Hey Guys this is the chat session I had with the scion website I dont know the ladys name who helped me but she was good this is here screen name.

GMon (Listening)
GMon: Hi, my name is GMon. How may I help you?
Christopher Gray: I had an audio question for you
GMon: Sure
Christopher Gray:
Are the speakers in the front driver and passanger doors exactly the same on the 2011 Scion tc
GMon: What ye ar and model Scion are you comparing to the 2011 tC?
Christopher Gray: The reason is I am having some trouble with my 2011 TC The Drivers Door 6x9 is alot louder than the passanger door and the dealer is telling me that there are two different speakers in the dirver and passanger door
GMon: You have the 2011 tC correct?
Christopher Gray:
Yes
GMon: I see. We have had customer call in about the same concern. The dealership would need to contact their technical support hotline for repair advise. There is a fix for this.
Christopher Gray:
They told me there is nothing out there any they would start a report on this
Christopher Gray:
What can I do
GMon: You may contact Scion Corp office for further assistance at 866-707-2466.
Christopher Gray:
Thank you
GMon: You're welcome.

EDIT---- Side Note When I called her she looked up my info and called the dealer for me who in turn called me about 10 min later saying they had a fix and I should make an apt to get it fixed.

sigh. my dealership is pretty much a failure at doing this. I gave them the toyota part number (PT545-00111) and they told me it was the wrong part number? They keep telling me to go in but I refuse to cause its 40 mins away and I'd rather not drive that distance to tell them something I can tell over the phone.

Dropped my car off before I soon head to work in an hour. They said it'd take them a few hours to look it over, after I clearly showed them exactly what happened and what was wrong lol. Expecting the worst and a high probability of them trying to bs me. Either way I'm prepared to talk to Scion Corp as everyone else has been afterwards if it doesn't work out, kudos to whoever threw that wildcard into the deck.

Stopped at dealer this morning talked to service advisor, he said we need to "diagnose it". So I made an appointment for the 20th. Will call corporate if no progress is made after they "diagnose it"

This morning on the way to the dealer I pulled over in a parking lot to make sure I had the problem. I had some music thumping, with the car selector set on TC. I got out of the car with it parked and still running and the music still thumping. I had both doors open. I put both my hands on the drivers door opening where the sub is to feel how much vibration I was feeling. Then walked over to the opened passengers door, put both hands on the same location, right in front of the sub, and it was clearly not as strong....

I actually just posted a similar note in another thread...

Any dealer that falls in the same region as a dealer that has already resolved it should be able to contact their region (ie - I'm in the SE Toyota region) and confirm the issue and fix.

@donsun, I would ask them to contact their higher ups and verify your complaint. If that doesn't get you anywhere, try Scion Corp. As you've probably noticed, Scion Corp has been good about getting us help and would likely be able to get the dealer to order a new radio and save you a trip since we all know the dealer won't have a replacement radio sitting on the shelf.

Ya, my dealer decided to be one of those that goes with the whole "This is how it's supposed to work, we double checked the acoustics and this is the way the car was designed" Ya, my ___ it is. Unfortunately I didn't get off work until 8 local time, which happened to be exactly when Scion Corp Chat closes for the day. So I get to wait til Monday to contact them and hopefully get them to talk sense into my dealer and get this fixed. I want to get this fixed before I start putting in my amp and subs, and would rather not have to wait a while for this...And as you said to tell them to talk to Corp. themselves, they claimed there was nothing wrong with it so there was no reason to, so ya lol.

^ Where are you in Texas? Potential job opportunity in the Dallas area, so I'd like to know which dealers to hit up or avoid. Oh, and ask for the dealer's "analysis" in writing. It's my favorite way to call someone's bluff. You'll see people back peddle like crazy when they have to stick by their assessments.

Glad you were finally able to get the dealer to work with you. But it is definitely worth the effort. The sound difference is night and day.

Durant Toyota in Weatherford Texas, it's about an hour west of Dallas. I would've pushed further with them, but after seeing all the success everyone's had dealing with Scion Corp. I figured it'd just be easier to go that route.

With the success that I have had that is def the way to go. I called them and the Corp office Called the dealer and told them what was what. Then the Dealer called me five minutes later and said oh we found a fix for your problem. It is really the way to go. Also All the dealer did when he looked at my car was look at another TC they had on the lot and didnt fix anything because he said the other TC did the same thing. Well who would have thought that there is a problem with both of them.. Do you think they will fix the one one the lot?
