Default Box Under Driver's Seat

Can someone identify this? It almost looks like a small amp. It has a black flimsy cover that you can clearly see. This is located under the driver's seat.

That's probably going to be the amp for the 6x9's in the doors. According to the specifications they have their own amp, while the rest of the 6 speakers are powered by the head unit.

It's nice to finally see it though!

if this is the amp for the 6x9's does that mean that some wiring can fix the 'tC mode' audio problem on the alpine head units?

I really don't believe so. The problem lies in the head unit's profile, not in any wiring. Notice if you switch modes you regain functionality of the passenger 6x9.

Will hooking up an aftermarket deck disable the amp? Or does it just work off the speaker wire?

Well, technically you could just pull the wiring from the passenger 6x9 and wire it to the amp, but then you lose the ability to fade left and right on the 6x9's. I would think it wouldnt matter anyway though with how quiet the right speaker is anyway.

Still no answer... I'm planning on hooking up an aftermarket head unit and I don't want to bypass the amps for the 6x9's is it directly wired or will there be issues? Thanks!

There are a few guys here with aftermarket head units. You should PM one of them and see how they went about it.

Why PM when knowledge is most effectively shared with a post that everybody can see?
