mospeed: You're just my hero and I want to be like you!

And I let my wheels sit only about 2.5 hrs before I put them back on. But I did it VERY carefully and let the car sit overnight before going anywhere.

Paint em!! Go takata green!! Volk Te37's!!

As much as I'm like omfg those are hot, I'm still LOVING the color of the OEM gunmetal. (plus they almost match one of my 1911s)

But major kudos for making it look sharp and making the calipers pop...

MightyP, the car is really coming along nicely.

Any issues with the plasti-dip? I'd worried about stone chips or what would happen with little flecks of hot brake dust sticking to it. Though you're not the first one to do this, so if it had disastrous results, we'd have heard about it by now.

Keep it up!

Thanks. Plasti dip itself has worked fine. Washing my car this last weekend I realized I didn't get the sides of the spokes as well as I should have. I didn't notice it for a few days, so it's obviously not too bad. I've touched them up without removing the wheel with some success but I wouldn't recommend doing if that way. Next time I have some free time without a mod in mind, I'll probably pull the wheels off and put a coat of regular black paint on top.

Torque Solutions Motor Mount

Pros: Easy installation, improved engine sound & feel, increased throttle response, eliminates wheel hop

Cons: Increased noise at speed, and increased shaking at idle (with the A/C on)

Review: I installed a Torque Solutions Front Motor Mount from Obnoxious Performance earlier this week. Okay, for those of you who’ve installed and used motor mounts before, this review really isn’t for you. For the rest of you, read on!

Install was easy and took about 30 min. It would have taken less time, but it was dark and I did the install by flashlight. The Obnoxious Performance install video was incredibly helpful. Only thing I’d add to the directions is you’ll want to jack up one side of the car to get underneath and have something to use as a breaker bar (I used a closed-end wrench) to break the bolts loose.

First time you crank the engine, you’ll immediately notice an aggressive rumble. I had a momentary flashback to starting up a classic muscle car. (As much as starting 4-banger built in 2010 can feel like a V-8 built in the 60s) With the new mount, you don’t just hear the engine turn over and come to life, you feel it. If you’ve ever driven or been in a Mustang/Camaro from the 60s or 70s, you’ll know the feeling. The change is minor with light throttle, but it's when you get into it that you’ll notice how much more responsive the car is. Similar to swapping out the rubber shift cable bushings for brass ones, swapping the rubber-lined motor mount with a solid one really cleans things up. You will also notice a more aggressive engine note. I really thought I was losing my mind at first. I mean, why would a motor mount change the engine sound??? It took me a bit to figure it out, but it’s because of the additional vibration through the frame. It sounds a lot like a high flow air intake without the whistling. Sexy is a good way to put it. Last, and certainly not least, wheel hop is gone. You’ll still lay down some rubber, but it’ll be a nice clean line!

Now, I did mention some negatives and I will say this mod isn’t going to be for everyone. Then again, if you like those massaging chairs, you’ll love this. At idle, with the A/C on, there is quite a bit of vibration. You’ll get a massage every time to turn on the car. I did get used to it after a few days, but I could see it getting old quick if I sat in stop-n-go traffic a lot. Also, there is also more engine noise overall. It’s a nice, deep sound, but certainly louder than stock and can be a negative if you prefer a silent ride.

Nice write up. And IMO, I would definitely not get these if you are in constant stop and go. However, you could save a quarter everytime you want a massage...

Good write up, damn good. You hit the perfect shots on that "Great if you want X" "Bad if you do Y" so folks like me who DD my tC in NoVA freakishly bad traffic will avoid the crap out of this UNTIL I either start racing the car or move close to work and start commuting on a Ruckus.

Thanks and I'm glad you got something out of the write up. This really is a cool upgrade, but not for everyone. I've had it installed for almost a week now and I still giggle a little each time I start up the car. It makes it feel like you're driving a real sports car!

When/if you decide to race your tC, you can always install the mount for the specific day and take it out during the week. Install really is super easy.

I wonder the vibration is as bad (in a good way) as mounts installed in a RSX. I sat in my friend's RSX and I have to admit, you do "feel" the engine and the car but after about 30 minutes of riding in it, I couldn't stand it.

Do you think you'll ever get sick of it?

Put up a video and mount it somewhere in the car and make sure you have vibration reduction turned off so we can see how much vibration there is :D

Great write up! I've been thinking about this myself. Might have to pull the trigger on it in the near future!

Couple random pictures. One of an abandoned golf course I found and another of the neon on my car (terrible picture I know)

so my tc is my daily driver, but im never in stop and go traffic cuz i dont get off work til after rush hour. so in just regular city driving, how annoying would it get?

its funny heydan commented about an acura, cuz i know a guy with an acura rsx and he said dont ever do them because the vibrations are so bad. anyone with the mod feel like taking a video with something like change or something on dash / wherever to kind of illustrate how bad the vibration is? maybe even a bottle of water in the cupholder to see the ripples so i can compare it to mine now

Well... thing is my friend replaced more than 1 mount. I *think* he may have replaced 3-4 which may also be the reason there's so much more vibration to the point I couldn't stand it.

Took the video. When I get home, I'll upload it and post a link.

The vibration really isn't bad. The extra noise is more annoying to me than the vibration. Probably because my car doesn't idle much but does go fast quite a bit.

Eventually, this video may have music with it (playing with the youtube editor), but for now, you can see the difference.

Video starts with the car off, then turned on with the A/C going (you see the coffee shaking), then the coffee stops shaking as I turn off the A/C, and shakes again as I turn it back on. All this is only after the car is warmed up since it idles higher while warming up (actually making it shake less)

Thanks for the vid mightyP. It really isn't that bad and plus I usually drive with the sun roof open instead of the a/c.
