did you pull the motor up and out or through the bottom? did you pull the motor with the tranny still attached?

here are a few tips: I have pulled my motor many times (unfortunatly) and have done so a few ways.

I have pulled my motor out and had the replacement on the engine jack ready to go in in less than 5 hours..

Trans comes out with motor

it makes it MUCH easier if u remove radiator/ac condensor, but if not at least remove fan assembly or it will get crushed.

disconnect fuel line from fire-wall, no special tool needed, just remove outer plastic coupler, then push button with finger to release quick connect fitting.

use vise-grips to remove shift linkage slide locks, and spray with oil before hand.

only other really tricky thing that sticks out in my mind is the power steering pump... i leave the fluid lines connected but remove the pump from the block as a last step before motor is removed ( last step because one of the bolts holding the pump is too long to remved when motor is in place and hits frame rail.)

if u have any questions, PM me.

oh as far as special tools, none needed... but u do need a 30mm (31mm works) 12 point socket with a strong impact to remove axle nuts. removing axles make it easy.

oh yea i forgot.... make sure u remove throttle cable from throttle body, and slave cylinder from trans, and the slave cylinder hard line bolts to top of trans also, make sure it is free.

cool. thanks. i ordered up the service manual in hard cover cause the pdf i have doesn't cover removal and replacement. built motor is ready to go. have most turbo parts installed that would seem a pain to do in the engine bay. figured on removing the radiator cause i just put in a koyo and i don't want to mash it up.

my plan of attack is to remove the hood. then intake and exhaust manifolds. accessories. and motor and tranny up and out. will the motor and tranny come out from the top attached?

will take pics to post

i ended up dropping the motor down on the ground and disconnecting the tranny then hoisting it up and out. did this cause I didn't have enough lift with the jack stands. just waiting on bearings for my differential and then it should be getting in. hopefully all will be done by next weekend.
