Default 2006 (not .5) Scion xB CARB legal drop-in filter or intake?

Hi. New member here in ScionLife and I live here in CA. I've been looking for more than a week now if there are ANY CARB legal air filter - be SRI, CAI, or drop-in filter for my 06 xB manufactured on 10/2005. (I'm assuming not 2006.5 as I don't have the steering wheel audio controls but I have the AUX port by the e-brake handle).

I looked all over online for any CARB legal intakes and it keep saying its not for my xB. However, the K&N drop-in filter doesn't say it is or not:

I wonder how much HP gain I can get with just the drop-in filter?

Also, I called our local Toyota/Scion dealership to see if they sell a TRD CARB legal. The Parts guy said the 06 intake is similar to the 05 and its CARB legal. It'll just cost me a whopping $335 bones. Not sure if he's just pulling my leg so he can do a sale or if this is true. Most of the threads I read here about the TRD intakes not being CARB legal for my 06 xB goes back to 2009. Is this now updated for 2013?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advanced!

PS: I have the now discontinued Black Cherry Pearl xB I got it used from an old couple who used to drive it around San Francisco. Just want to upgrade to some HP gain with little (and cheaply) as possible.

There are no CARB legal intakes for the 06, 06.5 xB. The reason is that for the 04-05, there was a seperate charcoal canister on the intake for breather tube. In '06, they incorporated the charcoal into the factory filter element. The TRD, AEM, etc. would be legal on the '04-'05.

Thankful I like in a state and county where emission certification is good for the life of ownership.
