Default 2ZZ-GE swap

I have been thinking about a swap for my '04 xB for over a year now. From 2JZ to 3S-GTE which is pretty whack, but what I think would be the most reasonable choice is the 2ZZ-GE from the matrix and corolla xrs and the older celica GT-S. I have no idea if this has already been done in an '04 xB, havn't seen any on the internet, but I was wondering if anybody had experience with this kind of swap.

This would be an absolutely collossal waste of time, money, and energy. That engine is a torque-less wonder, it was sub-per even in the Celica GT-S (which I used to have.) If you are actually going to spend the money for an engine swap, get a 3rd-gen 3sgte. They are easy to find and easy to source parts for, as well as hella powerful. Back in 2004 I swapped one of these in my 94 Celica GT, and it was sweet. This is just my .02, but take it from someone who has been there, if just want a little more performance, get one of those Blitz supercharger systems for your current 1.5L set-up, if you want a lot more, get the 3sgte

180hp out of a 1.8litre seems pretty decent....the xb's 1.5 made around 95hp?

It's definitely a low torque, top end screamer.

True, but 180hp is NOT decent when you are looking at $4k or more to do an engine swap. If you are gonna drop time, energy, and money into a massive project like this, then go all out, dont drop in an engine that has no torque and mediocre/sub-par top end.

Not to mention that you would need to swap in the GT-S 6 speed transmission to get the most out of it.

hey guys! there is a yaris out there with the GTS/XRS motor and tranny in it. just google search for it.

also, there are a hand full of guys with echos, xbs, and xas that have built and turbo'd their cars; most of them no longer have their cars. hint hint, waste of time and money just to say you have a fast xa/b/echo/yaris.

if you really want to spend 5k on a motor swap that is done right, do the 3sgte.

I would suggest finding something else useful to spend your money on.

Yeah, the 3s-gte would be the craziest swap to do, but you really have to do everything to the car from custom exhaust and axles, to converting to rear-wheel drive etc etc... I thought that the 2zz-ge would be the easiest since i can leave it front wheel drive and such.... And here in Quebec, Canada. I have one of the rare xB's around. When I run by people, everybody turns around and stares. I do want spmething fast and what not, but I just love the xB to much to get rid of it.... So swapping another motor is what i'd love to get done.

Got a place selling a 3sgte for not too much, what do you guys think, you seem to know quite a bit about used motors

it all depends on the amount of work required, if its a simple swap, the 2ZZ is a good engine
