Beefing up my 1nz-fe project started
So your turbo xa is done, just waiting to dyno and drag race it? Are you going to use meth or nitrous? Hope you can post some pics so we can see your sweet ride. Can you post a dyno video and post the hp numbers.
i have been reading this topic for some time, an d i would say good job on the build, i my self is picking up a motor that was out of a 2002 wrecked echo, it has 20k KM's on it, the guy told me that the engine itself has been in storage for 5 years, and no one ever asked for it
, i hope to break it down and rebuild it like what you are doing. I'll make a new thread when i get the engine and get started. oh we want to see some pictures
maybe even a youtube video of the dyno run
just got it back from the shop. had some welding done to eliminate all the couplings. will take pictures and post this weekend. dyno tune wont happen until first week of sept.
Simon, wow, I'm suprised they held the engine that long. I picked up mine from a shop that only had it sitting a year. 52k miles on it, but I figured with the rebuild original miles wouldn't matter that much. Plus, they only wanted $250 for it.

effing synchro went. the one I've been complaining about since day one. dealer has been dodging it for 2 years. now I'm screwed cause I've got a turbo and diff. drive shafts come out tonight and hopefully motor and tranny get dropped so I can rip the gear box open. never buying a toyota again. atleast not one from a dealer. can't tell you how slimy the dealer has been.
Damn, very sorry to hear that after you just got everything back together. You doing the repair yourself? I know with the auto the trans weighs more than the engine, I'd be hard pressed to mess with it, maybe you could find a spare used one cheap somewhere.
turns out that the shift cable finally took a crap on me. pulled trans and motor anyway. got to rewrap the turbo with the motor out which was easier. shortened the wastegate actuator throw by two full turns (HUGE difference!). poly-urethaned the last motor mount. resealed the trans. runs slot nicer now, but still need dyno tuning. shift cables ate up my dyno scratch and now I gotta shop for winter tires. got a street tune on emanage ultimate but having problems with emu reading relative psi accurately. so, still running basic for now. hopefully I'll get around to running a compression test to see how well the rings have seated.
