Beefing up my 1nz-fe project started
here's a few shots of the kaaz lsd with the ring gear installed. am waiting on the bearings which should be here tuesday.

shots of the motor with alternator, a/c condensor, and clutch installed (cm stage 3):

running list of mods:
wiseco 9:1 pistons with swain gold thermal coating on dish and poly coating on skirt
crower rods
toga hp bearings
perrin fuel rail
fidanza flywheel
clutchmasters stage 3
unorthodox crank pulley
kaaz lsd
koyo radiator
blitz radiator cap
samco hoses
greddy rs bov
greddy xb turbo
greddy xb intercooler
greddy airinx intake
aem tru boost controller
emanage ultimate
plx devices wideband O2 sensor/controller
tanabe sustec front strut bar
gtspec rear strut bar
eibach pro springs
trd rear sway bar
h&r 15mm rear spacers
rear camber shims
eibach front camber bolts
greddy sp2 exhaust
ingalls stiffy torque damper
jp vizage front lip retrofitted
kazera kz-a dual pcd 17x7.5 rims
falken azenis rt
damn right that the mods cost more than msrp of the xa!!!!
once i pay off the note, I'll buy a new daily driver and turn it into a track car.

while you have it apart you might want to think about these suspension upgrades from energy suspension

well, here's the latest:
first off, i went to home depot and bought some poly urethane and did 2 of the 3 motor mounts.
the motor went in nice. i hoisted it through the top and then dropped it down in the engine bay. then i bolted the tranny and hoisted it up again and locked it in. the greddy xb intercooler piping was a nightmare. first off, the pipe coming off the turbo was wrong. it was supposed to be a 90 to a straight and another 90 in the shape of a U. however, it was two 90's with a 90 twist. in short, i hacked up the pipe and turned it into a backyard special with the help of couplings from the hardware store.
she fired up and took her out. however, the "old" heat shield wrapping i had on the shifter cables finally gave in and i melted one. now i am in a holding pattern waiting for a new cable. in the meantime, i'm going to tidy up the wiring and connect my wideband controller and pressure sensor to emanage. i ended up ordering the greddy universal intercooler piping kit and hopefully that will make the piping look nicer. will post pics after i redo the piping.
still waiting for the flange for the bov. the kaaz lsd was responding nicely. didn't want to beat on the car, but i applied some power that would have made the wheels hop a bit with the stock dif without hopping. also, the 9:1 compression got rid of the high pitched exhaust sound, sounds more throaty now.

The stock layout of the Greddy charge piping is not the best.
You need something more like this:

One thing that I have found out about the charge piping: It heatsoaks very easily in our xA engine bays. Do what ever you can to get cool air running into the space occupied by the stock airbox and lower your charge pipe temps. I will be wrapping the cold air line from the intercooler to the throttle body with heat wrap to keep charge temps down.
Looks great!

Will,
Can't answer you on the pistons, I got them from xa007, so I don't know if they were custom or not. I couldn't find the 1NZ listed on Wiseco's site, so I'm assuming they were. They came with wrist pins and rings.
Here are the Crower rods, they are no longer a custom part.

Dezod is also a Crower supplier and actually has them a little cheaper. Paul didn't even know they were being made until I PM'd him, but they went up on the Dezod site that day after I let him know. PM him first before ordering, they may have an additional SL discount.

The toga HP bearings can be gotten from import performance parts, along with rings, etc if you don't have them already.

Here's ecerything else they have for Scions:

the pistons are custom order from wiseco. order the engine kit from ipp and you'll get the pistons, bearings and gaskets. the pistons I sold to vetter came with the kit. I bought it off of someone else and the compression was too high. I ordered a set of pistons only from ipp for my setup. took about 5 weeks. ipp has great prices. oh, and I recommend getting the service manual.
may be a little late but heres a good transmission company that can build what you want.

their located in NY about 20 miles north of NYC. if they can build a race tranny for a viper. i think our little 1NZ-FE motor will be easy for them. :-)

Oh, and who did the piston coatings?
xa007xa doesn't have a box, it's an xA. Just gonna have to wait for him to post an update.
As for my build, I haven't even cracked the block open yet, still ordering parts.

Sorry to threadjack but I felt I had to share:

Thanks again for the pistons.
