not really. no gears in the rear end

Snarky sarcasm aside, I don't know whether the differential in the xB can be altered

....WRONG, WRONG, WRONG.....
Are you in the right chat room? XB's are front wheel drive.
They have no rear end. (Where is my a$$ at?)
You could change the rear end gears but you would have to add a rear end first.

I got my RPM's down by moving the needle in the tach, now I never go over 3000 rpm.

CHANGE GEARS IN THE REAR END TO BRING DOWN RPM's.

Or put some 35 inch wheels/tires on it.

J/K.....There's really no practical way, other than what hotbox05 said....neither which would be very cheap.

I'm sure you could get an Echo tranny for next to nothing from a junk yard. If you are mechanically inclined, you could swap trannys in a day... nothing too complex in removing the transmission.

Adding a taller tire would raise the gear ratio by a small degree.

And then you could rejoyce at your extra-sluggish acceleration...

As this member points out any raise in gear ratio will lower the power at take off.

echo trannies do not fit....diff mounting tabs.

you can get TRD final drive gears...
you can swap out the gears from an echo, not the whole tranny.

also gives you a reason to do all the other cool things in that dept...

light weight flywheel...
clutch...
LSD...
front sway (easier with the front end down...)
front braces...
