Default Head Unit Question: random button

So I know there is a random button on my single disc player but at least on my MP3 cd when I push it it will only go to a random song in the specific folder I am in and then play on from there. Is there a way to get it to randomly play the whole cd? Or at least more than one freakin song in a row?

I don't really have folders for my songs. I just fit all my mp3's on two CD's and just play them random from that.

(sings) RTFM!!

I totally missed this one myself.

If you hold down the random button for 2 seconds, it will
switch to Random ALL Folders.

It's in the manual that you should have read.

I did read it, and I still missed it somehow. LOL

Lonely Raven is correct. (although reading the manual may count as cheating...)

The other thing that irritates me is that there's no way to forward to a new random track. On my mp3 player, if you're in random mode and you forward to next track, it will pick a random one, in the Scions it goes to the next track in the folder you're in. My solution to this is I made an mp3 file that is about a second long of just dead air. I put that in its own folder and if I forward to that folder, it plays that track for a second and then goes random again.

It is faster to just press random twice

I've tried that but it seems like it repeats songs more. May just be in my head, I don't know the process they use for randomization...

I am not sure how they seed the random number generator, and if they use the same seed each time the button is pressed. Hopefully they use something like the time to seed the generator each time, which makes it appear closer to random. but, without pressing the button a few thousand times and recording the results (which would prove a very desperate and boring existance ) then I guess we really wont know.

I know this is off topic from the original post, but is there a way to pause? Or is mute the only thing? Sucks when I get a call on a song I am just grooving to, only to hang up and unmute on another track...

The best version of a pause I've come up with is to switch to the radio and then mute. When you unmute and switch back to disc, it'll start where you left off.

Just press the power button. when you press it again it will start where it left off. Works just like pause
