Default How are Sylvania Silverstars?

Anyone here have them? If so...do you know which ones I should get for the tC?

Is there a good place online to order them from?

Thanks a bunch.

Typing "silverstar" in that little search box at the top of this page and then hitting return will give you 252 threads that contain that very unique word. That might be a good starting place.

or pepboys, kragen, or autozone @ $39.99. they price-match walmart. so you'll be fine.

and they work wonders for reflector based housings, like the ones in your tc.

they suck on projectors. period.

I'm new to this. Is there a guide on replacing bulbs? It's prolly not that hard, but I still don't know where to start -_-.

Great, been using them since they came out in several vehicles, only one burned out and it was the oldest.

Excellent bright white light output, not blue so not a cop magnet either

ramaudio:
how can you say there is no 'blue' light with the Sylvania Silverstars, yes there is...

On the **Osram** Silverstars (parent company of Sylvania), yes, that WAS all white output...I have them on my wife's CR-V...

In our state, the blue tint of the Sylvania Silverstars will not pass the annual state safety inspection.

Really? Weird.

From Sylvania's website:

"What does it mean to be 100% Street Legal?
Our products are designed within the limits of wattage, color, light output (lumens) and are of the highest quality that are placed in the industry by the government.

SilverStar headlights meet all US and Canadian requirements (FMVSS 108 and CMVSS 10."

I'd call Sylvania and ask about getting a refund. "100% STREET LEGAL" is written all over the package.

They're great headlamps. Had them on my last car, have them on my new car. I was planning to "upgrade" to PIAA bulbs, but the PIAA's are not as nice.

Even so, if you listen closely, you can already hear the flame wars starting...
"Sylvanias SUCK! Buy my brand of PURPLE headlight, they look like HID's!!"

^ werd. let's keep this thread "silverstar" oriented. lol.

anywaiz, i agree with somnambulated- silverstars are completely street legal, unlike so many other tinted bulbs. though many cops couldn't visually tell if your bulbs are illegal, silverstars might just be the stuff for you if you're serious about legality.

Silverstars have the same output as the Halogens that came stock in the tC, just a different color (more white). I rock em in all my cars.

I've been using SilverStars in my last 4 vehicles. I love 'em. Just DON'T TOUCH THE GLASS WITH YOUR BARE HANDS!!!! I always wear a pair of latex medical gloves to install them.

Bingo!!!! Key to keeping the bulb alive is the install...

Yes silverstars are awsome. I have used piaa bulbs that cost from $50-$120 including dual colors, hid wanna be's etc... The silverstars are just great driving bulbs. They are not rice and are not overbright. They really catch the reflective roadsigns well and lines on the road "what white light does"

A hint on purchase, if you have a pepboys near you, they always have a "spend $100 and get $20 off of your prurchase cupons" I buy about 10-12qt of synthetic two oil filters "enough for two changes with oil to spare" and a pair of silvertstars. That puts me right at $100 so I basically get a bulb free

Sadly the two Silverstars I had on my Pilot both went out within 6 months. Nothing to do with touching the glass, btw. You can't have higher output without sacrificing longevity. Good luck.

That's strange. Like I said above, I've had SilverStars in my last 4 vehicles. I've never had one go out. My last truck and my wife's last car each had Silverstars in them for 3 years when I sold those vehicles, and they were still working great.

I've been running silverstars in my 99 Saturn since shortly after I got it in 2002. No problems so far. I haven't changed the headlights in my tC, but I think the stock ones are good enough. I may change them, but I'm waiting for some projectors to come out for the tC.
