You want true HID look, you need to do a projector retrofit.

purple isnt a TRUE hid color, that is an aftermarket kit color, a true hid color is pure white/ with a hint of blue...the only purple you see on an OEM hid setup is the cutoff on top and bottom

^^^ Yep

When you do your retrofit, put in around 4,000K and it will be as close to those true HID systems on lexus, mercedes, etc.

i am most impressed by your honesty about HID lighting and not trying to pawn hid kits to the uninformed.

sunlight at noon is like 4000k, 6000k has a blue tint to it.

i've got Phil's (Oznium.com) Flowlighting HIDs (8000k) in my tC and love them. i believe they're priced at $235 on his site. now remember, these aren't retro-fitted and do come out as a pretty cool looking purple-ish color, but there really is little to no glare from these. here's some pics:

now, like i said, these don't look exactly like the true, factory HID kits, but they still put out a whole hell of a lot more light than the stock halogens...

EDIT: eh, no idea why the pics aren't working. just copy and paste...

Or you can still stick to halogen bulbs and still have a bright white light. i am talking about Sylvania Silverstars. They are more expensive than regular OEM spec bulbs but they sure are worth the money. You get the 4000k output that you would want from an HID set-up but are safe for our non-HID equipped headlight housings.

Thats what my plan is, find a better halogen bulb. I think PIAA has some that go to like 4300k.
