I just purchased a Grom Audio MP3 hookup for my 04 XB, and I wanted to know where the cable should come through since we have the door on our little holding area. And where does the little box for the converter sit at?

Curious to those who have the peripheral installed in their car... will this thing drain battery if you totally forget about your iPOD connected to your stereo?

I have my ipod connected to the Peripheral's iPod2Car all the time. I remember reading somewhere that it should stop charging after an hour of the car being off. However, I think I've noticed it still charging after the hour. I've never had a problem with it draining the stock battery, though. My iPod is a 30gb 4th gen with a dying battery...

I have the USA spec from Crutchfield. It powers down when the car is turned off. If you listen to your Ipod alot, I would highly recommend one of these units.

Yeah...Im so happy that after so long, I got this baby in my radio. Now I love the iPOD more than ever. hehe. What sucks is I kind of dropped a lil screw that holds my radio down in the console somewhere...ARGH....but it is alll good..

Good stuff with the iPOD though.. i love it..

I don't know if you all noticed but, when using the iPOD through the ipod2car, it's tough to run through songs.

So, if you have a nicely indexed iTUNES, like me hehe, you can make playlists with full albums. For example, I have 1 play list with all hip-hop music. To run through the play list without pressing down or up, use the "change cd" button instead to fly to another album.

Duno if you all noticed though :D

Its fairly easy. Follow Mikochu's instructions on the first page to uninstall the radio, put the ipod unit behind, and re-install radio. I took my time and I think it was less than an hour.

Not sure about the iphone. I have no experience using one.
Here is the link to the unit I bought:

Honestly...I only bought it now because it was a steal at Fry's Electronics for 99.99. It could be cheaper now even. I do agree with Michoku. Its flippin awesome, and revamps your iPOD love.

I bought a different kind of iPod2Car kit, but it did include the peripheral box (important of course) and a set of wire harnesses for all kinds of japanese cars...so if I ever switch up to another "asian" car, I will most likely use this there too :D

Is anyone else having any problems with their ipod2car being really sucky? I read in the main post that it was kinda flaky.. but I think mine's only turned the iPod on automatically ONCE when I started the car, and it NEVER turns it off. >:/

Anyone have any experience with Perihperal's customer service, either? I've just emailed them about it, very upset. So I guess I'll see what happens..

No, that happens with me too.

You have to manually turn it off. As for turning it on, if you have the 03-05 xb radio, you can wake up your iPOD by pressing the "track-down" button. Normally that should connect it to the radio. Or you can press, next cd or next folder to wake it up.

I think using the iPod2Car effed up my iPOD, unless I really broke my iPOD previously... I dont know.. :T

It works. However, like all legacy iPod products, when you connect the iPhone, it'll popup with a warning saying the unit is incompatible. After you close the message, it'll work fine.

Hey Michoku, have you had any problems with your iPOD when using the peripheral? I probably wouldn't blame the peripheral but, my iPOD blew out on me. Maybe because I dropped it a couple of times.. LOL... maybe... :T

The only issue I had was with my 4th gen ipod's battery pooping out...but I think it was just old age. It might also be because I keep my ipod plugged in all the time. The only time I'd take it out was to change the music. I'm probably going to get the 4th gen ipod a new battery, but I was able to snag a 5th gen for cheap...so that's what is in the car now.

Does this work for all iPods? The shuffle to be exact......I know, I suck for having such a tiny, screenless MP3 player.
