my sub stopped, help plz!! (fixed)
ok, so the last couple of days, my sub has randomly just shut off for a few secs, or a couple songs, and then come back on, well now its off for good and wont work, the amp power is running, and theirs no trouble light on the amp, so wtf? lol. Im running an alpine type "e" 350w RMS and a profile 1000 that pushes 310w at 4ohms. i dont really get it, did my amp go bad? if it did then whys their no trouble light? i tried hooking up my other speaker but nothing still, i also tried instead of using the HU's sub output, using the converter it came with and hooking the power from the left and right speakers to the amp, and still nothing. i also hooked the wires from my normal speakers straight to the sub, but theirs not enough wattage to push it at all lol. if anyone has any suggestions leme know k. im hoping its not my amp, it never runs hot, and the wattage is perfect for the sub so argh lol. this isnt the only place im posting this tho. so hopefully i get an answer somewhere. this is driving me crazy, is their anything i can do to test if my amp is working, or getting input even?
p.s. so it ended up being both my subs were bad, so my friend let me borrow a kicker, and that hits harder than my alpine did lol.

Check and triple check all wiring. Try the sub on a source (a know working source)big enough to run it if possible. Try running a different sub off the amp. You must methodically narrow down possible failures in the system. You could have a bad amp, bad sub, bad output to the amp from the HU, or a wiring problem. Unfortunately without some good test equipment or known good components to swap in place of suspect components quickly finding the problem can be annoying if not impossible.
If I had extra components available I would start by swapping the sub itself, then the wiring from the amp to the sub (temporary wiring for this), next I would swap the amp, then swap the rca cables from the hu to the amp. sooner or later verifying one thing at a time you will find the problem. Good luck.

ive swapped the sub itself, i had a spare. i tried swapping the rca's but they were just tv rca's and i dont know if thatd work right. i duno how to test if theirs even output from the hu, but from some of the stuff ive done, im wondering if my amp is bad, which would suck if its bad. owel ima keep trying things.

Also, make sure you did not accidentally mute the sub,,,by HU, crossover setting or something simple.
Sounds like an electrical problem, Check the fuses-with a meter, not by eye-at the amp and battery. Hopefully a spike from a loose connection did not brick your amp!
