the battery i had in my other car and you know how much yellow tops go for, i wasnt going to give it away, i was glad i made it fir, the stereo and the stock battery didnt mesh well even with the cap.

The yellow top is their "deep cycle" -capable battery. I have one salvaged from the Model T crash of some time back. It's still good.
When you say "tight" you mean that the terminal placement is wrong for your battery hold down or cable length (which of those two is wrong??)
I could try to fit that yellow top into the new RS to learn what your problem is. My Optima is a top-post only version. They may not make that one these days; I -think- that all are combination side or top terminal style
it really helps to make a posting detailed and specific so we can tell just exactly what is being talked about (those of us who have not tried swapping in other batteries before, I mean)
this is why I go overboard on details details and try to make clear language out of twisty, complex topics. Too brief is worse than too long when it comes to tech topics.
thanks!
