tire size question on the tanabes
Hey all...this is my first post. i have a black cherry pearl 05 xB...anyways im getting the tanabe springs. I have the TRD wheels and i HATE the stock tires. Even tho they are the pirelli pZERO...everyone thinks they are like the god wheel. i cant stand them, but anyways to narrow, no rim protection and no sidewall. it feels like im on a rubber band. so anyways i would like to upsize. I have been searching corner carving forum and the tread and butter, anyways. What is going to be better from a 215x35x18. going to a 225 35 or a 215 40...the second number is an aspect ratio i know. So the 225 35 is wider and will be a tad taller. the 215 40 is same width but taller. with more wall i am not sure that the inflation will make a small buldge to help protect the rim..just a theory i guess. Anyways my next tires will not be 215 35. so wat will be better for me?
FYI, our fitment team recommends 225/35R18 at 24.2 inches in diameter as an option to the 215/35R18's at 23.9 inches in diameter. The 215/40R18's come in at 24.8 inches in diameter, which is rather tall and may cause some rubbing issues. By -the-way, increasing the air pressure will not make the tire wider - sorry!
