I just got a set of the helix smoked tails, my question is, what LED brake light bulbs should I use, I would like the brightest and most coverage possible.

No one has had great results yet. At least not good enough to feel comfortable driving around with them on a sunny day.

The Spiderlite may work http://www.spiderlite.com, but no one has tried it yet. A couple of weeks ago one guy was going try a different LED bulb. I don't know if he has done it yet or not. It had something like 3 rows of LEDs that were on the side of the bulb rather than a single row.

Good luck in finding something that will work for you.

 

I have the TYC taillights and I bought the 1157 braker bulbs and they are just as bright as the regular bulbs if not brighter. Just make sure you order a bulb made for taillights that has side and/or rear facing LEDs also. I bought another LED bulb that had just forward facing LEDs for the third brake light and it was very dim.

 

I was thinking about these:
12 forward facing + 20 side facing leds

Those might work out pretty well Keith. Make sure after you get them you post the results. Day and night shots would be great. And let us know what company you buy from, and how their customer service is.

I've posted my taillight mod which includes LED bulbs. I have daytime photos comparing LEDs to stock bulbs. They work good for me.
