Windshield washer spray question '06 xB
When I actuate the windshield washer spray the motor starts the blades and then squirts the water. In other words, the wipers drag the blades across the dirty glass first.
Is there a way to reverse the process so that water squirts first making it less likely that a dry blade will, as it has, over the past 11 years, scratch the glass? I just replaced the windshield—such clarity.
Thanks, Kerry
PS: The silver paint of the 14" Walmart wheel covers that fit a '06 Scion xB, although inexpensive, don't last long. Less than 6 months.

I'm sure there's a way to build-in some kind of delay for the wiper motor that would allow the washers to spray first but given your previous windshield lasted 11 years the question would be is it really worth it?
If you can find wiring diagrams for both the windshield washer and wiper circuits you could just add a time delay to the wiper circuit using something like this:
Time Delay Relay
I imagine the .5 to 5 second relay would work for what you are looking to do.

I doubt you'll find a step-by-step fix but it would be as easy as wiring that time delay relay into the windshield washer circuit. Only think I don't know, without chasing down wiring, is would it also affect the wipers when you turned them on normally and didn't use the washers at the same time (I'm guessing it would be a yes...).
