Default clunking noise in doors

Lately ive noticed this really loud clunking noise in my drivers door. hear it most when windows open. (of course).

What i have done to try to find the problem.

1. took door panel off drove everywhere to locate, with hand holding everything inside door skin. nothing found.

2. took the entire door apart, checked to see if there was anything loose. nothing. re-greased up everything that needed.

3. re-tightned every bolt.

4. repositioned window. which everyone should. just so you all know.

i thought i fixed the problem after i did my speaker install. but nope.
i was starting to think it wasnt in the door. but it is. dealer has no idea.

anyone else having this issue. or any ideas.

maybe it is somewhere else and noise is coming into the door through motion.

pls help soooo annoying.

Questions:

1. Any sound deadening done to the car?
2. Have you checked the wheel well liner to see if it might be loose?
3. Is it worse when turning, different speeds, bumps in the road?

no sound deadening. i am going to do it but want this problem fixed b4 hand.
wheel well liner is tight. but now you got me thinking maybe something behind it.
and only hear it when taking off, slowing down and hitting bumps. and im not talking big bumps. i mean lil bumps. stuff you would barely feel.

Could be that the hinge pins need replacing, open the door halfway, lift it up and down and see if there's any play in it.

none of those are the problem. it seems to be coming from the middle part of the door. but window regulator and everything else is all tight. anyone have a idea.

Could be the strut tower nuts are slightly loose and need tightened.

checked all that. after reading up some other posts by others. the sound actually sounds like it coming from the middle of the door. sounds sorta like a ball bearing in a pop can type sound.

you mentioned that you upgraded the speakers, did you upgrade the wiring? is the old connector secured, might be some wiring bumping somewhere.

I'm thinking maybe door panel related. Nothing moves or makes noise till it's re-installed. JMO

thanx again for all your advice. i retook my door apart afew times these past weeks. went over everything again. foam taped up the whole wiring harness. speakers are good. checked all latching bolts and so on. window regulator is fine. so i just put it all back together tonite and hopefully on my wayto work i dont hear anything. if i do i then i dont know what it is. something i may have to live with. do the sound deadening and hopefully dont hear it as much.

thanks again everyone.

Pull the door panel and look_for a ball bearing or rock or?_ in the lower bottom "tray" area of the inner door.

Maybe a tool or nut you left in there?
