Default Flat tire :(

Well with just 1050 miles, I got a flat the other day. What a bummer, and to top it off, they were unable to patch it. They said there was a hole in the side wall... Warranty wont cover this, so that's an additional $120 I have to pay for my new ride. Sux.

But any idea what could have caused such a thing? I def didn't hit anything.

I actually had a wheel lose its seal and the dealership gave me a new tread for free. There were no holes, it just lost its seal.

Oh ya, I got a flat also from a dang nail but it was in the tread so I had someone patch it.

Whether you know it or not, you *obviously* hit something, otherwise there wouldn't be a hole. And it could have been very subtle. Two days after having my stock tires put on aftermarket rims, I caught a screw somewhere, had a flat. It was repairable, being in the tread, but could just as easily have caught the sidewall just above he tread area...

Know how you feel wife got a nail in the sidewall today also. Had to pay $83 for a new tire. there is a book that come from the dealer and your subpost to be able to send in your receipt and they will reimburse you some of your money.

I feel your pain - 2 weeks ago I went out to the car to go somewhere, and the LR tire was flat. The culprit was a small shard of metal.

Yeah, it would have been cheaper to repair the tire, but since the stock tires pretty much suck, I ordered a set of Falken ZIEX ZE 512's, 205/55-15 from www.edgeracing.com. It was @ $270 shipped.

You owe it to yourself to get better tires for the box - you think it handles well now? Wait til you get better tires! MAJOR improvement.

And you wouldn't know this yet having only 1050 miles on yours, but the stock tires are plain SCARY in the rain.

I'd advise to make the investment now.

I have yet to have any trouble driving my xB in the rain.

Screws and nails are the cause of most tire problems. In one year I had 5 or 6 repairs and 2 good tires had to be replaced because they were always catching screws or nails. Here in Florida we had major hurricane damage 2 years ago and that was followed by reconstruction much of which was done by fly-by-night companies who didn't cleanup. All of the tire companies tell me they saw a huge increase in road hazard repairs.

I'm going to make sure to purchase the road hazard protection when I get rid of the Eagle LSs.

Sez who?

When Consumer Reports tests cars, they routinely do wet/dry handling and braking tests using stock tires, and the box did fine.

Add the ABS and ESC, and the xB becomes the opposite of scary.

Ok, sounds like I need to explain.

In most rainy situations, I've had to keep my speed under 55 or else the car hydroplanes drastically! The front end feels like it's lifting off the ground (which it is) but I don't feel safe driving the car in the rain at speeds over 55.

And if you drive on most any highway, you know darn well that you have to drive with traffic or get run off the road, so 55 doesn't cut it.

If you look at the reviews of the Eagle LS on www.tirerack.com (and I mean the low ratings, not the high ones), most people who have this tire are having the same problems.

My new tires are amazing in the rain. No hydroplaning, definetely can go over 55.

That's all I was trying to get across, I probably should have explained further.

Sorry.

why would you be driving faster then 55 in the rain anyway, unless you were trying to kill yourself, a passenger, or just trying to cause an accident by driving stupidly in bad conditions?
