....and this thread is one good reason why I don't visit SL much anymore.

I'm totally happy with my 08, going from an 05. You guys are ostracizing 08 owners for no good reason. We get it, the 08 isn't like your Gen1. Get over it.

Lol, it's not you they're giving the look, it's the car. So many mixed feelings about them. It's a love hate thing. Me, I love the increased power, four wheel disc brakes, increased side impact safety, ect. However, I am saddened by the drastic change in body style and front. I am really tied between gas mileage or increased horsepower issue.

I admit, I would be in the XB2 right now if I could, (college student getting by) but that's because I have a daughter and the side impact aid bags alone would sell me. But thankfully, I consider myself as the best piece on safety equipment in the car.

A lot of strong and mixed emotions there...

If xB2 owners are so happy with their choice in cars, why do they seek our approval?
I don't need the extra power. I'll have the rear disc brakes soon enough. Not worried about the side airbags or other safety things. The only real thing that bothers me about this whole mess is the name thing basically. If it had been called anything else I would have been perfectly fine with it.
Calling the xB2 an xB is a slap in the face for all proud xB owners in a nutshell. There wasn't supposed to be a second gen, Period!

LOL, I cant believe you guys were arguing over whether or not a car is a box or not, however, why cant you guys make comments without bein insulting. Ive owned both and liked both for different reasons. One reason I bought the gen 1 is because it was unique, which happened to be a box. I could care less if it was actually boxy or not, but I did like it and thought it was unique. Also, just to clarify a couple things the xb2, just like the original xb, is a wagon not an SUV, with or without quotation marks, and the xb isnt the first and only car to be boxy in shape. There were many in the past and still are many. Ford is coming out with one, jeep has one, and the hummer which was here before the xb and in my opinion is more boxy. You wonder why theres so much hostility, yet one person with a gen 2 makes a comment and then 5 run him down that own a gen 1. As far as what people wanted I dont know about more space but the most common complaint was the power according to this thread that was on here and asked.
https://www.scionlife.com/forums/vie...power&&start=0
As far as size, it is bigger indeed but come on, its still a compact car not a Lincoln Continental...
Oh, and all those that think its a slap in the face that the gen 2 is still called an xb, I somewhat agree that maybe it should have a different name like tb (but couldnt do that b/c then it would be named after an illness=not very marketable), but I dont think its so big a deal that you would call it a slap in the face. Its a name thats all, and many dont use it, they use box, toaster or bb anyways. I did the same thing with both of the ones I had and removed all the badges I possibly could, so I dont really care what its called other than a toyota at heart.

I am super excited to have my '06 Classic xB, and I am not one of those Classic xB SL members who hate on 2nd gen owners. I don't like Toyota/Scion's approaches, but those are not the owners' faults. I tried to start a thread (here) a while back to get some feedback from 2nd gen owners. I am trying to bring the community together. I understand how Classic xB owners feel when it comes to the name, but it's a marketing approach by Toyota/Scion. They figured, "Keep the name since it's already out there to promote the newest generation." Who knows? One day the Classis xB owners might get a kick in the pants similar to the 60s models Mustang owners and get a retro Classic xB in the future. After all, "everything old is new again."

No one is attacking them that I know of, but for lots of people (especially people that frequent ScionLife) their vehicle is an extension of themselves or an outlet for their self expression. So, it is easy to see why 2nd gen xB owners feel the ways they do.

this is really sounds like people have problems with all that sand in their....... (that special region, usually found on females)

but whether someone likes your car or not, who really cares? when you got your xB.. did you really care what others said before you bought it, or was the descision all yours? you deal with people making stupid comments about it?

i always say "someone has a problem with it, it's their problem, not yours."
