Deal with the situation instead of hating old people. Grow up.

I have problems with gang bangers and dope heads messing up our society, should I hate young people.

Do not generalize. There's a lot of good old people out there.

Forgive and forget.

Last time I went shopping some old folks ran their shopping into the side of my car after they unloaded it. I picked it upand threw in on their car.....ok so maybe I am tempramental...
Sounds like something I would do....I get a lil tempramental sometimes too, especially about my car.
Sounds like something a 6 year old would do...
whatever

Dings in your door are a part of life. If you want less of them, park away from the other cars and walk a few extra feet. If you've got 'em, wait until every door is dinged and you've got a few rock chips and scratches and have your car 2 toned.

Motorcycles are dangerous, a lot more so than cars. That doesn't mean that cars shouldn't watch out for motorcycles, but you have to accept the risks that go with cycle riding every time you swing your leg over that crotch rocket.

Bad drivers come in all ages and drive all sorts of cars... young drivers lack experience, middle-aged drivers have too many distractions, and older drivers lose their reaction skills

You said it. If anything, we should be requiring driving lessons for cheaper insurance, banning cell phone use while driving, and having older people tested annually for their reaction time.

Oh where to start...

First, just because you're an older driver doesn't mean you automatically get respect, at least not in my book. Respect is something that's earned, not given just because of your age, intelligence, wealth, or whatever.

Second, agree 100% that every age group has it's share of bad, stereotypical drivers. I fully agree that driving requirements need to be much more strict for younger drivers, say 18-21, and for older drivers, say anyone over 60. I'm sure statistically these age groups represent the biggest threat out there.

Third, riding a motorcycle is not inherently dangerous. Like a car, it's an inanimate object that takes a human operator. Throw in some inexperience, inattentiveness, lack of training, attitude, poor mechanical condition, on the part of either the motorcycle or vehicle operator, and you could have some potential problems. If the cage drivers would obey the traffic laws like everyone else, riding a motorcycle wouldn't be any more dangerous. But what makes it dangerous is they'll come out on the losing end of even just a "minor" fender-bender.

Fourth, relax and smell the roses? You've got to be kidding me. What color is the sky in your world? As long as people roll over and just blow it off, idiotic drivers will continue in their ways. What they need every now and then is a reality check. Driving a car is a privilege, not a right. If they abuse that privilege, then it should be pointed out to them in a not so subtle way. "All it takes for evil to triumph is for good men to sit back and do nothing."

You know, I'm old, (not 65 but old), and I think when I get to 65, I will insist that my driving skillz be checked every year. I don't want to be the monkey that can't drive when he's over 65, and yet, still does, then kills someone.

And old people, can be nuts. Two nights ago, this old man, and I do mean old, started to pick a fight with me, because his wife told him that I had cussed her out (never even saw the old bird before)...well, this okd fart is pointing his finger in my face, and I told him to back off, or he would get a heart attack or something.
He wanted to 'take me outside' and teach me a lesson. I laughed in his face, started to walk away, when he grabs my arm, and pulls me towards him.

He tries to hit me, and falls down. On his face. I had to call the ambulance, and give a report. I had folks that had seen the whole thing, and so no problem with me. But still. Old people can be weird.

That would make for a nice saying on someone's grave marker...or "here lies John Doe, who had the right of way..."

$250 fix!!
sorry about you door. Nice to see you handled it with respect for the folks. jumping out of your car and yelling at an old lady. Shame on you. I assume you are perfect and have never had an accident or traffic ticket, never made a mistake in your life? Remember these seniors are the same people who overlooked your mistakes when you were younger. such as. riding your big wheel through their flower gardens, nicks in their car from your tricycle and other stuff.

show some respect, you will be old some day. unless the next time you jump out of the car and yell at some old lady her husband kicks your butt.

My friends keep asking me how I kept from hitting their car or something like that. And it's simple, I was ____ed because they had a lack of respect for my property, I wasn't going to turn around and be just like them. I took pictures of the contact and their license plate incase I needed to make a claim to get something fixed. Nothing looked wrong, so I just drove off and left them to their unknown reality of not knowing that they did something wrong.

Fcukin old people, they were about 3 feet past the parking line and touching my bumper! I took pictures and backed up, but there didnt seem to be any damage. Hopefully when I get a change to wash the car I wont notice anything.
I hope they slip on the ice and break their hip!

That would ____ me off so bad! I hope you took a picture of thier licence plate, just incase you find any problems.....

This is EXACTLY why I always keep my digital camera in my hatch!

RacerxB,

Never said I yelled at her until they started to drive off. And contrary to what you may think, I think I displayed great restraint given the situation. I am sorry, I have heard this sob story before, that old folks should somehow get a pass on doing and saying nasty things. I don't care what your age, you get no free pass to damage my property.

Seriously, if you were sitting in you car and some little old lady SLAMMED her door into your car, you look at her and she is still pushing her door into your paint with all her might showing no concern fro damage she is causing, how would you react?
I suppose you would have just smiled and thanked her?

Honestly, I would have reacted a lot differently if she wouldn't have kept grinding her door into my car after crushing it. That showed that she knew exactly what she was doing and had no care for the damage she was causing.

And to answer your question, yes I have made mistakes driving and made some bad decisions as we all have. BUT THIS WAS NO ACCIDENT. An accident would be her bumping her door into mine and then pulling it back quickly. She continued putting all her weight into it and grinding her door into my car long after smashing it. I WOULD NEVER, EVER, EVER, EVER, DO THIS TO SOMEONE ELSES PROPERTY AND I NEVER WILL!!! (And neither would you I suspect!)

my gf recently had her car hit by an old man. he backed all the way across the street into the side of her car.. $1000 in damage..

he begged her not to go to the insurance, just get a few quotes, and he'd give her cash.. well, this ____ has been going on for over a month now, and he keeps avoiding paying her the rest of the $$.

poor old man? hell no. it doesn't matter your age, you need to respect other people's property, and OWN UP TO Your MISTAKES>

florida is full of old people who give no respect to anyone but themselves..

i've seen an old lady push her cart from the back of the line at the grocery store, and shove someone out of the way to get in front of them.. when that person yelled, she said "you ought to be ashamed, treating an old lady like that" i'm sorry, but that's messed up.

Not necessarily... The older people get, the less aware they are of their surroundings. You don't know for sure that she knew exactly what she was doing.

Less aware they are of their surroundings? Then why should they be driving?
